This ball cover is saddening, I'd much rather see the previous Ringo pic floating around rather than this...

I don't know why people don't like it. It's a classic pop rock song. I like it. I'd take this over Carnation

I think I read something a while ago about Shiina Ringo putting Gunjou Biyori on Kyouiku because it's exactly the kind of song that she couldn't write herself (would that be because of Gunjou Biyori's 'sunniness' and unbridled optimism?) It's interesting how she's now writing in that style, as if that were Jihen's goal in the first place.

... And I thought much of Phase 2 Jihen was mainstream drivel. This sounds like everything else in Japan since like 2000. When all that's left is a voice, man. If this is the dawn of the new era, I'll gladly stick to the darkness of nostalgic nights.
It's exactly what we expected based on the tie-in, right? Maybe they should have chosen some other artist instead of forcing one of the better mainstream artists to water her music down so much.

That song went through me like a bowl of oats. Absolutely nothing going on there.

I like the English lyrics at the end
Most of the Japanese comments I'm google-translating seem to be pretty positive. They seem to like the lyrics, which I can't judge as a non-Japanese speaker. The song's not my favorite but I think it's worthwhile. |

Yeah, it's really only the horn that elicits the comparisons to F.O.U.L. It's just that is the exact same sound.
Ringo wrote this? I didn't even want to finish listening to it. |

Was it Yukio Nagoshi on guitar for this? The solo was pretty badass and the highlight of the song.

Starts off with FOUL's horn and Jiyuu e Michizure's guitar, and then descends into a mixture of Gunjou Biyori, Toumei Ningen, Flash Girl and Killer Tune. The music is just lazy. Wonder if Ringo's taking the piss.
Still like it more than Carnation though... |
