I am sorry for add more off topic chatter, but those last couple of posts were quite funny, lol. What a thing to discuss.

@Cosmo!'s P.S.

When someone listens to a large variety of music, I think it is very interesting. I wonder where did they first encounter each artist. It takes a special kind of person to not be genre-ist. To open your arms to a wide range of genres shows you are open minded, ah so there goes more fuel to my shiina love fire... <dreamy sigh>

Ah yes. This playlist. I remember. "If I ever feel better" is one of my favourite songs ever, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it made it to SR's list. If she really were going through a rough patch with Hirama and HZM getting out of the band, I think "If I ever feel better" is a perfect song to get through it all. After all, I made it through some rough patches myself listening to that song.

This is interesting and all, but I'm far more interested if and what music she's publicly HATED on...

^I imagine these:

All those Hirama albums he made after leaving TJ.
All those Hitomi Yaida songs that Ringo consider cheap knockoffs.
Merzbow
Jandek
The Shaggs
Velvet Underground & Nico
Long, wanky progressive rock albums
Tori Amos's Gold Dust

I would think she could totally appreciate Merzbow.

In any case, I remember they band talking about Pantera in some between-song chatter. Maybe they are closet metal-heads?

Appreciating is one thing, enjoying is another!

Can't picture her going home after a day working in the studio, and put on 50 minutes of TV static. She listens to real music such as...sugary pop and hot rock.

Sorry to necro this thread - but was just wondering if anyone ever compiled this playlists together with (relatively) HQ versions of the tracks in question. Am in a sudden nostalgia trip, and trying to find a non-192kbs version of some of these is impossible.

This thread reminds me, I had a quick look at the latest SWITCH at a bookshop the other day and it has a section with a list of 10 albums that Shiina chose and wrote something about, mostly classical and jazz, the ones I remember are Mahler's 5th symphony, Miles Davis - Sketches of Spain, Julian Bream - Bach and the Spanish Guitar, and Sadao Watanabe - Rendezvous. I think there was also some Astor Piazzolla.
