yeah, after BFP she started to lots of research into vlad the impaler and was planning an album about vampires, she had trips to romania and the region all planned out and then she had her miscarriage and the rest is history. Iieee and Cruel were played at soundcheck in Boston during BFP tour with different lyrics so its possible they were initially being worked for that album as well (along with an early Apollo's Frock).

I mean, I'm glad we got FTCH instead of vampires. I mean, Liquid Diamonds? HELLO, I'm looking at you. I really didn't like that song for such a long time. I really like how the entire album feels so underwater and submerged. I'm really into aquatic themes and LD is the epitome of that whole theme in some ways. It suits Tori, she always more of an underwater thing than a land creature.

as an early mother's day gift you can watch the visualette and download the new song Maybe California.
http://www.spinner.com/2009/04/27/to...clusive-downl/ I'm kind of meh about this track. maybe it will grow on me. I suppose we should just expect all the visualettes tori walking around in high fashion....kind of a let down. I hope they aren't all like this. it seems kind of pretentious to be singing songs about mother's committing suicide thanks to the shitty economy and then film a visualette for that song parading around cliffs in haute couture. |

thanks neko!
maybe california was one of my least favorite previews. The full version is better but not by much. The visualettes... that's exactly what I was afraid of when I complained about how self indulgent this project seems at the start of this thread. anyway, I want to hear the full version of strong black vine. |

Grumble, aren't you a mom as well? I might be just totally mixing this up but I thought I saw a post about your kid sometime...
then, it would be a gift for you Anyway, if Maybe California was one of your least favorite, then that's actually good - I haven't listened to the previews yet (trying to hold out for the full thing), but I wasn't terribly impressed by the song (and the visualette) at first. It got better later on, but I wasn't that excited by it and so far like Welcome to England much more... |

At EMF you are 100x more likely to be single and/or in the middle of college, than you are to be a parent. Single-parent or middle-of-college parent fans of Shiina Ringo might exist somewhere in the world, but I don't think they'd have time for this community.
There's no more than like 3 declared parents throughout this community (and maybe 3 married people with not-yet-declared children that may never come), and without looking back on her posting history - I'd almost bet money that a_grumble_cake isn't one of them for no other reason than because my memory is fairly good and I don't recall seeing anything from her about it. Anyway, back to the Tori discussion. (I'm not a fan)

Haha, thanks for the statistical post! (as I said I'm not sure at all and I thought pretty much the same of an EMF demographic...)
I heard Saitou Neko arranged some strings on the album. It's gonna ssssssuck. |

lol!
No, I'm not a mom. Not planning on being one either. I think the only time I mentioned motherhood was when discussing Ringo herself (I believe it was the catalyst for polite old lady/soccer mom shiina). |
