I think the people going to see slasher movies like MBV3D understand that it is trashy film-making with trashy characters, but it can be fun if you let it. I'm going to treat this more like a theme park ride than a movie, per se.

Yeah, you don't go to see MBV3D because you already saw Slumdog Millionaire and The Wrestler last week =p

Indeed, indeed. I already remember seeing them when I was just starting to go online as a pubescent little pickle farm.

All this talk about 3D reminds me of the films of William Castle, which had so many fun gimmicks.

Like PERCEPTO!

and ILLUSION-O!

and my favorite, EMERGE-O!
which was a glow in the dark plastic skeleton on a wire that would zoom over the audience's heads during a certain scene in The House on Haunted Hill.

I saw Pineapple Express yesterday and thought it was awesome! I watched the "extended" version on DVD and it ran pretty long, almost 2 hours, I think. I don't know what was extra or not, but it was nice to have a version of the film that had more worthwhile scenes rather than more tittie balls. I really liked the drug dealer's character, I forget his name, the guy that was in spider-man. He was so good and I thought he did a lot with the "pot-head" role instead of solely playing up to the stereotypes.

I'm currently watching Kiki's Delivery Service, and it's been really good (I'm taking a half-time break since my father was messing around with the electricity in the house and shut down my room for a bit). I like that she has the black cat but the English voice acting for him is sub-par.

If you like that, then you should check out Miyazaki's other films, like Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. I actually prefer those to Castle In The Sky, but they are all above average films anyway.

Also, I've been wanting to watch a non-cam version of Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea for awhile now, but it doesn't seem likely that it'll be too soon. Oh well, at least a US release is even happening, I suppose.

^ I've already seen those two. Those were actually my first Miyazaki movies, Howl's first then Spirited Away. I'm working my way back now =).
