Not as simple as Music vs. Lyrics.
Sometimes the Music is so good that the lyrics are pretty much secondary (Asobi Seksu - Thursday or any other song on Citrus). Sometimes the Lyrics can lift what otherwise would be a pretty average affair (The Blow - Paper Television, any song on the album would fit this description) So it's really something that can only be settle in a case by case scenario.

I get your point, and I also chose music, but there is no need to exaggerate like that. The voice is one of my favorite instruments. Bjork has an amazing album which is almost completely a capella with the exception of a bass synthesiser on one song and a piano and a gong on another.

theres always need to exaggerate when yer making a point as long as you don't obfuscate reality too bad.

You are right, and that is the reason why I can listen to music in languages I don't fully understand and still enjoy it. My point was just that the voice is as much of an instrument as anything else. But, since here we can only choose Music or Lyrics, I guess vox would go under music too.

Lyrics are a part of the music
they're both important, why would you want to chose one over the other like this? I still vote for music but I get a bit confused with these kind of questions why? |

So if you want to play it like that, first listen to an instrumental version of a song that has a version with singing in it, then when you're done read the lyrics of the vocal version and tell me what you liked better as a song |

I think lyrics mean nothing without the music, but the lyrics can elevate the music into something that the music itself cannot ever achieve without it.
