uh oh. Pitchfork BNM'd Port of Morrow.
Now deadgrandma doesn't know what the hell to do =p (it is a bit of a grower, as you implied) EDIT: Most of the songs I liked on the first listen, I didn't dig so much on the second (Fall of 82) and songs I didn't dig I liked better the second time (40 Mark Strauss, though I don't like that the two songs follow each other as they sound so similar.)

It has the same exact effect of Wincing the Night Away.
That is, give it an initial "yeah, pretty good, but not as good as what came before" reaction, then after a few listens, it's the most played album in your collection at that particular time. God I needed another Shins album (me and the Shins go waaaay back, way before Natalie Portman mentioned them), and this is really, really delivering for me. And the prospect of a tour just blows my mind, they are one of the best live acts around, and this new line-up perhaps seem better from the TV appearances and bootlegs I've seen! I wonder what my personal score out of 10 will be in a months time. Eh, Pitchfork have always liked the Shins, I can deal with it. What I want to know, Jihad, is whether you went back and gave it a second shot solely because of Pitchfork's review? You seemed pretty meh before :-p

Coincidence. AV Club reviewed it too.
EDIT: plus, this wasn't really a weekend for music for me. And as I said I had only listened to it once, now twice, before. I told you I wasn't at a fully formed opinion then.

New Meshuggah delivers, and delivers hard. It's too enormous to give a full opinion after one listen, but I can tell this will be more good music to add to the 2012 playlist.
