On the whole salyu/Lily Chou Chou thing:
I was rewatching Lily Chou Chou and I noticed something that I never noticed before (because I watched the movie before I became a fan of Shiina) In the beginning, there are a series of typed messages that are supposed to represent an online discussion board. They are talking about singers who make music from the "Ether" like Lily Chou Chou. Somebody mentions Shiina Ringo, and then somebody else says "No way" I just thought that was funny. It was released a little as SS too. So right there, Shiina was in some way an influence on the Lily Chou Chou character. |

Now, regarding the Salyu/Cornelius thing: yeah, I was there for Cornelius, too, but I actually enjoy Salyu's voice a lot. She's got a strong timbre and powerful vocals overall. Nevertheless, I dislike most of the solo material I've heard, therefore I cannot say I'm interested in her future releases at all...but she could always continue with this collaboration project, who knows where it might lead. CLT:

Yeah, they mention Bjork, UA, and Shiina Ringo, but then somebody says "No way" to Shiina. Later on they mention the Beatles and Claude Debussy (the composer in which Benkai Debussy from SS gets its name). I've never heard of UA before.
Speaking of Bjork, she's coming out with a new album. Apparently, the album is going to be an experiment in digital content distribution. It will be available in a series of special Apple apps. To celebrate, currently watching my favorite Bjork music video (though not my favorite song):

Already watched it, am watching it again, and I am loving it.
I love the Japanese movies that deal graphically with the nation's social problems. |

Even at the expense of 2.5 hours of whiny teenage crybabies listening to Salyu? :-p

I was born post-70's but I wish I was alive to hear this when it was fresh.
These are the days when musicians were average/ugly guys who had to rely on musical talent. I hear this in the dentist office and acquired a liking to this kind of stuff. meh
