Ghost In The Shell 1 - regarding Internet?
um... as for media, Natural Born Killers deals with the way that media glorifies criminals to get higher ratings and money. Pretty violent movie though. A funny one is "Underground" by Emir Kusturika. During World War II, a group of comunist rebels escapes to a dense network of underground tunnels to survive from nazi attacks in a small area of yuguslavia. But after the war is over, one of the guys manipulates the media and everything else he can, to convince everyone else (inside the tunnels) that the war is still taking place, and he manages to do that for 15 full years... he persuades them to manufacture weapons, and he uses those weapons to get rich in the real world (the surface) by smugling them. It's not 100% about the media, but especially about manipulation. It's a great comedy film. Another great comedy is "Goodbye Lenin", where just before the fall of the iron curtain in the Soviet part of Berlin, a mother falls into a coma. Her son (a teenager) fears for her death. In the meantime, the Berlin Wall falls. But miraculously, the mother recovers. But the doctor tells the son that he cannot do anything that could cause a shock to her mother. So, he convinces the whole neighbourhood to act like the soviet world still exists, so that his mother would not die of a heart attack. Even the tv and radio segments were artificially manufactered for her to see. "City of God" deals with a kid's desire to escape the most dangerous brazillian slump ,and become a famous news reporter. I think the movie is based in a true story, but I'm not sure.

@NIMH the more, the better - right now, I'm just all the titles I can find and once I'm finished with that, I'll go them all through one by one - for getting ideas and for selecting, which ones to take as examples, etc.

^^^ It sure is, and based on a true case of a mother who was so driven to make her daughter a cheerleader that she tried to hire a hitman to murder a rival cheerleader, and the cheerleader's mom. When the media got hold of it, they turned everybody involved into minor celebrities.
Holly Hunter plays the title role. |

In Mission: Impossible, Tom Cruise finds Vanessa Redgrave on the Internet.
Now that's just impossible. |

You could add a lot of horrormovies^^ But I don't think that's what you're asking for
How about Private Parts? It's about radio, but nonetheless, it's media.

Actually the scope is so vast that there's hardly any movie falling outside it...
