Can we stop with the fucking 4chan stuff? Thanks, Jihad.
We've reached sad times on these forums when Sainara, Ao, Nariwai and Anata no Kisetsu are considered bad songwriting.

If we're talking about I Belong To You, not even a charismatic, competent singer can make that song interesting.
I think what bugs me most about this duo is that they come off as this try hard color by numbers indie band. The album cover, the minimalistic and quirky PV, the long haired rocker with the squirmy white girl combo. I feel like I've seen these things so many times before... edit: and the promo shoots... come on Hirama get it together.

I think you're totally right about what makes them lackluster. It does bug me that the duo doesn't strive to do anything. Just watching them you can tell they don't really have any goals other than to stay "relevant". It's a by the numbers bore with cool guitar solos. You can replace either member of the band and still get the same results.

Found this old-ish Japan Times article via this post:
Connor's musical partner is Mikio Hirama, one-time member of jazz-rock outfit Tokyo Jihen (fronted by Shiina Ringo) and session musician for artists such as pop diva Superfly, plus a solo act in his own right. A Sapporo native, Hirama moved to Tokyo 11 years ago, meeting Buffalo, New York, transplant Connor in 2009 when he was invited by the producer of her previous band, c.cedille, to record some guitar. They formed oh sunshine in the summer of 2010. ... "I thought it would sound cool to have Emily shout 'I belong to you!' over the song. Very rock 'n' roll!" says Hirama. "And there's a part where she starts speaking in funny Japanese: I just wanted her to mess around with it." the rest at the source...

[This is the DVDrip of Emily Connor's aka AppleMilk1988 Idol Gravur video. Basically is it a video of her in various skimpy outfits acting slutty for the camera.] Right.. |

If Hirama isn't getting some, then he really really really sucks.

I love me some Kao but I am unimpressed by If you can touch it. Is the rest of Yume to Negoto more like the former or the latter? What about the rest of his discography?

Black Bone >>> Virus > When I feel the sun > Beautiful View > Yume to Negoto Beautiful View would probably rank second if it had more tracks. Dansaa is pretty great. Black Bone is the only one strong all the way through while the others are half good, half crap. You will have a problem with the song structure of When I Feel. They are all pretty much the same.
