Those early Britney songs were "memorable" because they were overplayed to no end. Even at that time I didn't think they were going to be something like classics, yet it seems like they are considered just that. Of course you'll remember a song your ears have been raped with countless times.

and yet there are fans of this band that even own this album that claim they only vaguely remember these songs.

I didn't argue with that.
I just wanted to say that if you switched channel to MTV and Killer Tune would be on 27 times a day for two months (and then it'd be replaced by OSCA or even Boutomin and whatever else), you surely would remember it even years after... I don't remember Britney's later songs as much because I was less exposed to them (same with you I guess)

see thats the thing tho. Someone that IS a fan, and does have access to an album can equally saturate themselves with these songs, or moreso.

I don't remember "Sake to Geko" and "Tsukigime-hime", and I was a big Variety supporter back in the day D:
I even named it my favourite album of 2007.

I don't remember anything from Variety beyond the singles & Kronekodow and maybe... no actually I don't to be honest. If I wrote their names I couldn't pin the melody to them in any way.

Edit: I gave Ramp a spin and remember that now but the rest are ???

Don't most of TJ fans agree on Variety being their weakest album, even if they like it? I certainly wouldn't say for myself I dislike it, but find the two previous ones much better. Also I'm sure if somebody really liked it, they played it enough to remember all the songs on there.
Shinji, I suggest you listen to PJ Harvey's "White Chalk". ASAP

This isn't really proving anything. I remember everything on Variety more than I remember anything from Muzai Moratorium. Just because you're less exposed to something doesn't imply that it's better or worse. :|

That's what I was saying. If you played it more than MM of course you remember the Variety songs better.

Oh, I did. It's in the top as well, but that year I was so obsessed with discovering Tokyo Jihen that I was amazed at everything they did. Only time made me realize how bad it is, comparatively. And I wouldn't need much tought to rearrange that top to what I honestly feel now, and it would include Chatmonchy's Seimeiryoku, HZM's 5+2=11, delofamilia's eddy, both Midori albums, Patrick Wolf's Magic Position, Roisin Murphy's Overpowered, St. Vincent's Marry Me and To My Boy's Messages.
Blonde Redhead or St. Vincent would be number 1.

Back to Variety, I suddenly have a urge to re-tag the album title to 娯楽(バラエティ) because that's what's written in the kronekodow site. And also change Adult to 大人. Somebody stop me please?
