The only reason I used those words in the first place was because of that rap... You guys/gals honestly can't tell his guitar sounds like shit (and I don't mean his "style")? It's so cold and lifeless. Sterile sounding gear sucks. Sparkly and jangly clean tones are the best. The Uki tone is even more disappointing when you know he's using a Fender tube amp.

For you they are.

I don't prefer Uki's sounds to anyone, really, I just like the whole music in general and his sounds are pleasing to me. I don't think I've ever been turned off by music because of a guitarists tone. It's either a singers voice that I can't stand, or just music in general that I don't like.

I've never met a guitarist who thinks "cold" and "sterile" are good words to describe tone, Hedo.

I didn't know Uki called it that either. Regardless, "cold" and "sterile" are far from what I think his playing sounds like.

I miss the good ol' days when guitars were jangly and sloppy and twangy and messy and dirty and gritty and drove women to throw their underwear onto the stage.

Concert chicks are such a bore these days. Most of them don't even flash bare boobs anymore. Just bra.

On-topic: Sounan is easily the best Tokyo Jihen single. Kokoro might even be the best song on any of the singles.

Maou's opinion is clearly wrong. I'd do a point-by-point, but let's be real 'cause that requires work.

While you're clearly wrong about the concert chicks, Sounan is my favorite single thus far. Shuraba comes close and even OSCA doesn't disappoint too much, but Dynamite and Kokoro are just too good.

Yea concert chicks are a bore, I blame nu-metal for that shit.

While I've got nothing against Uki tone most of the time, I always wonder how did he get that sound outta his guitar using a tube amp? the phatness of the tube shouldn't be affected even by a train of pedals right?

*half prone on couch*

A long chain of Boss pedals will suck out a lot of good tone even with a great tube amp. However, I think the issue is the guitar itself. When he switches guitars in the middle of the JCHI concert, his tone magically becomes 100x better. There has to be something specific about his main Phantom that causes the icky tone.
