Feist, Wilco, Noel Gallagher (!), Atlas Sound!
Haven't heard these, but what an uninspiring list. (But that's just my opinion. In case you weren't sure about that.) I'm sure not listening to Dai-hakken either. This has not been a good year, for me, for new music, but I also have not been trying nearly as hard to find newly released things as I did last year, mostly because I don't think it's worth the effort. New-to-me is more important than chronologically new. |

Siiiighh I was merely speaking of music I was excited for reflecting why I thought 2011 was a good music year. I wasn't giving the official EMF watch-list.

Well, sure I can see how that sounds a bit ridiculous, but I'm basing it on the other music I've heard by these artists (except maybe Atlas Sound because I don't really remember what they sound like--oh no, I'm digging myself into a deeper hole here). At least we can mostly agree on Dai Hakken.

Well, now that my reshipped copy of the album finally arrived (the original shipment has got lost along its way, unfortunately), I have to admit, I'm not too hyped about this album.
I absolutely loved Sports right from the beginning and I still think it's a great album with at least some experimental touch. Daihakken feels solid and has some really nice tunes on it, but I have to agree it is kind of boring compared to Sports and Variety. I'd still take Daihakken over Adult, but well, maybe my expectations were a little too high. |

I only listen to "Onna no ko" now, if that means anything.
Oh, and I'm also looking forward to Feist's "Metals", the teasers were very interesting. I've yet to listen to the first single, though. |

I stopped listening to it in the first week, after about three listens. This was really unexpected of me, because I thought I'd at least TRY to like it. The only reason I'd review it is not because there's anything in particular I want to say but so that I'd be a 'good member.'
I'll be watching the live, of course. I think they'll put on a good show, and give us some fantastic performances like they did in Ultra C. |

I finally started listening to this again, and it's slowly becoming my favorite Tokyo Jihen album. It's disgusting, I know, but taking out "Tengoku e Youkoso For the Tube" and putting "Onna no ko wa Dare demo" first is causing me to play it nonstop. Those two songs after "Osorubeki Otona-tachi" are still the only things I usually skip.
Not sure if I can really call this my favorite Jihen album though since I have to remove and re-position songs, but I will say it's up there with their first two albums now anyway. P.S. Ouch at only five comments in the last month, especially since this has only been out for three. |
