Synopsis: Hayakawa Bito (Matsumoto Jun) is a youth who is the child of a Filipino father and Japanese mother. His father dies and his mother goes missing but he weathers these unfortunate circumstances and his troubles about his race and background with positivity and a smile. Mishima Hana (Aragaki Yui) is a pure-hearted girl with a sunny smile in spite of her loss of speech as a result of some incident. ... yeah. I guess we should expect something more mellow. I don't care... all I know is I peed myself a little when I saw the title "New SR Solo Single". Does that mean she might go on a few tv shows to promote the single/drama? If it's the same team that produced Hana Yori Dango then maybe this is a high profile drama. |

Although, that doesn't mean it's guaranteed to be a good song. Btw, doesn't "Yokyou" have that sort of facing-all-difficulties-with-a-smile vibe? There's even one word in the lyrics that I keep listening, "muzukashii", which means "difficult". On the other hand, recent events proved that the theme song doesn't really need to match the show (see Hiyori-hime). |

real comeback? maybe, but I wouldn't expect anything resembling "old shiina". I think tokyo jihen was an excuse to let people get accostumed to her new facets, on a gradual basis...
It's really nice news, but my expectations remain moderately low. I hope I'm wrong, though...

My guess is that New Shiina Ringo is going to be pretty much what we heard in Ringo Expo and "Amai Yamai": weird/sexy pronunciation of words and jazzy/orchestral tunes. And not in the HF kind of way.
Of course, as is evident by the latest ringohan newsletter, "comeback" doesn't mean "back to the roots", but actually just Shiina Ringo returning to do solo material. But I'll be the first one to sue her if it fails. Last edited by ShinjiPG : 2009.03.16 at 10:25 AM. |

Maybe Tokyo Jihen was just playtime and now she wants to get down to some serious work again.
I'm basically pulling that out of my ass, because if we still had Phase 1 Jihen I wouldn't be thinking that. What kind of music would people be expecting if she was to return to her old style, anyway? I'd consider her releasing MM/Shouso Strip style songs a STEP BACK, even if it is better than the jazzy stuff. The Tamatebeko whatever songs are awesome, but listening to them makes me, strange enough, NOT want more KZKish stuff anymore. I don't know what I want from SR, actually. If the single ends up being a 'simple song', that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's not going to be a generic anime ballad, so there's nothing to worry about. Worst case scenario is a jazzy HF style theme. |

I totally want the Ringo Expo sound for her solo career. Just with a slightly less emphasis on the orchestra and more focus on the band.
