Astor Piazzolla - Otoño Porteño (Live in Montreal 1984)

Orthodox 'tangueros' considered him the enemy and killer of Tango; a snob, disrespectul of tradition, stating that he composed hybrid music with dissonant harmonies. Ástor replied with a new definition: "more than Tango, it's contemporary music from Buenos Aires".

At their most haunting, perfect best:

Guernica

She looks gorgeous on this too.

Even down-to-earth Togawa is haunting, actually the first Guernica song I could get into easily.

I guess I can say Jun Togawa made my 2011. The whole year.

(BTW, You guys may not know this, but girl groups are actually my guilty pleasure)
Girls Aloud are so famous over here that I forgot how into that tune I was when I first heard it as well. Always liked the third and spacier of the "choruses", might have prefigured a liking for Tsumiki Asobi which is also swimming in hooks. Yeah the vocals sound like they'd be more interested in shagging millionaire footballers in some bar but... that's the celebrities we go for here I'm afraid.

CLT: Luxurious Undergrind, Teedra Moses' freely downloadable mixtape of album length that's one of the most consistent things I've heard this year. Well worth a go if anyone's in the mood for some R&B loveliness.

I
LOVE
ASTOR PIAZZOLA

I've gone for months only listening to him and no one else...
