going back to Adult, I disagree. Kameda did arrange much of Ringo's music but take a listen to her demo tapes. Most of what we have on MM and SS came straight from her demos and they ended up being produced and recorded in a very similar vein. Then take a listen to Himitsu at Dynamite Out and then what happened on Adult. The latter is Ringo writing a composition and then Kameda REARRANGING it to fit the concept of the album. It is significantly different than Kameda arranging and producing studio versions of older work, which don't feel drastically different from their demos. The difference between Himitsu live versus Adult is the greatest we've seen of anything and out of all her work is the only album Ringo acknowledges letting someone come in and suggest the concept and rearrange accordingly. Hence the turning point. Everything since Adult has either been Ringo taking a back seat or the band working as a group (excluding her solo releases, of course).

people who became fans post TJ will never fully understand or get it and thats just my opinion, but I feel Jihad's frustration because I've been a fan since SS - era. I don't dislike where Ringo is at the moment but I'd be lying if I admitted I wouldn't be happy if she released a SS2 or KZK2. Ringo is an alt rock goddess at heart and as much as she wants to be mature and write fancy songs to sell expensive cosmetics or housewife dramas, no one is going to love her like those awkward fans who saw a bit of themselves in her antics. she is committing once of the worst crimes an artist can commit and that is alienating the core fan base who is responsible for pushing you to stardom.

The way I see it is, pretty much ALL of Ringo's music for MM & SS was written when she was a TEENAGER. Do you know how old she is? ALMOST 33. I'm not trying to say "OH Ringo is OLD NOW," but that amount of time between her writing music for MM/SS/etc and writing Carnation is SIGNIFICANT. Ringo even said so herself that when she was starting out that she did a lot of branding to herself.

but whatever whatever, that's just my two cents an argument that will never be and can never be resolved. I still enjoy Ringo and Jihen's music (past &present), and that's what matters to me most.

As for the single at hand, I just received it in the mail yesterday. While I really like the sound of both Watashi no Aisuru Hito & Jinsei wa Omoidoori, I kind of feel like Ringo's voice has been getting lost a little lately. I don't know what it is. It's getting muddled under everything???? This sad to me because, Ringo's voice above all is what helps me enjoy her music. I'm terrible at explaining these sorts of things but yeah, that's how I feel about that.

Kameda didn't arrange Adult Himitsu, Izawa did.

See, that's the thing. I don't want Ringo to be an "alt. rock goddess" anymore. And I really don't think she's one "at heart", because she was alt. rock goddess as a young woman and is now something different. Would you say what you were as a teenager is what you truly are "at heart"? I wouldn't.

Says the guy that was defending nu-Tori hate a while back

@BlueApple: I reckon the voice mixing is lower but I dunno, makes a change from most Japanese pop (including Ringo's) where the voice drowns out everything else.

@TurtleFu: I agree with you there. Plus the term "alt rock"..... soooooooooooo 90s.

I'm a porn star at heart!

I am skeptical about album credits for Adult since only a handful of tracks list the actual arrangement. I don't recall exactly which interview it was from, either Adult era or Ringo's anniversary, but I distinctly recall Ringo singling out Kameda for suggesting and playing the central role in the reconfiguring of the sound/theme for the album that became Adult. We don't know what most of those songs sounded like originally, but with Himitsu we have a clear example. Izawa may have arranged the album version but I stand by what I said and implied, being that Kameda was the brains behind Adult.

haha nu-tori. I'm still shocked you don't like night of hunters.

No wonder I like it so much.

Thank God either he or Izawa did rearrange Himitsu, Dynamite Out version is booooooring.

Toumei Ningen still sucks though, regardless of whichever version.

I like the Dynamite Out ver.

Not that I want to listen to the high-pitch lolita voice everyday but it is a nice experience once in a while. Around fortnightly would be nice.
