I'm gonna sound like an elitist snob here (it's not my intention), but I can't help but feel a little suprised when I hear of people who have been fans of Ringo for a while only just buying SS now... I'd always presume that's the first CD they buy (seeing as its the easiest to get- the first press grows on trees and as I've said before, seems to be in every second hand bargain bin in Japan from my experience).

I only own SG, Reimport (which I felt I was cheated by the f--king mastering), SUNNY (and singles from it, Carnation and Irohanihoheto), Toutaikai and Ringo EXPO '14.

@zeroryouko Wow, that's really huge! I'm envious!

Silly question: is buying *new* items on yahoo auctions reliable? I mean, is it really new, so it gets counted on oricon and artists get royalties? Or is it better to buy from stores like Amazon, Rakuten, etc. Sorry for this dumb question lol

So, a couple of things I've gathered about this (mostly by inference; anyone with insider knowledge please feel free to jump in and correct me):

1) I have not used Yahoo Auctions, but I have purchased from Japanese sellers on eBay and on Amazon Marketplace. In my experience, the Japanese sellers I've dealt with have nearly always been scrupulously honest about the condition of the items. Items advertised as being new have almost always actually been new, in the shrink wrap or in a manufacturer-fitted plastic envelope. On one (and only one) occasion, I did receive a single that was advertised as new but was not in the shrink wrap, however the actual condition of the item was pristine as far as I could tell. But I've never even had cause to question it on any other occasion.

2) Oricon seems to only count domestic sales. Sites like YesAsia and CD Japan explicitly note that, while they do report their sales to Oricon, they only report those sales which are physically shipped to addresses within Japan. Most of the sellers on eBay, Amazon Marketplace, and (presumably) Yahoo Auctions are actually smaller CD shops rather than individuals. There's really no way to tell what these sellers might report to Oricon - if they report to Oricon at all - without asking them individually. Presumably Oricon is still only interested in the domestic sales figures, regardless of the particular seller.

3) Make certain you're getting an original Japan version of whatever CD/DVD/BD you're thinking of buying. *Usually* not a problem as long as you're sure the seller is actually physically located in Japan. But be a little bit wary of anything that seems too cheap and/or does not list a Japanese catalogue number. There *are* legitimate overseas releases, if you are looking to save a little money and having the original is not a big deal to you. But as far as I know there is no comprehensive listing of these, and I am certain there are bootlegs out there (Taiwan, for one, is famous for its bootlegged CDs/DVDs).

New it new. No point lying as seller would get negative rep.

But when the item is "good" or "very good", then they can be anything from almost new to dirty and abused.

I got the MoRA sets. Digging the audio quality, especially the hi-res DVD audio. The Ringo cameos on the DVD video are fun too, especially the Ringo no Uta disc.

I'm thinking about getting this mora dvd set, is there any real difference between them and the normal cds sound wise? In this site is alleged it has more dynamics, but i'm not sure... : http://dr.loudness-war.info/album/li...a+ringo&album=
