Not much of a pwn when the recipient is probably dead (or may as well be).

If that is the motive then it's like me going up to a guy I beat at a game six months ago and saying "you got owned boyeeee!!" LOL LOL etc.

six months ago.

Nevermind eh...

Not that I want to drag this out more, but if it's true that "Japanese society is uptight," etc. etc., I would argue that's why they LIKE Shiina Ringo, not why she's disliked or why people think she's weird.

There's a difference though between early Ringo, who was controversial and rebellious (when "Honnou" happened), and current Ringo, who IS uptight and reserved and now much more in line with Japanese tastes/societal expectations. My point is that it's an inarguable fact that "Honnou" caused controversy and led to a widespread negative perception of Ringo that still persists today among people who are not fans of her and don't know as much about her, as evidenced by my conversation with one of those people. You can ask around while you're there and probably find out the same thing.

I'm not trying to "pwn" anyone, just answer/address outstanding issues that were related to me or asked of me. (Again, I didn't realize wilson made that post a year ago and wasn't around today.) Thanks as always for your support Yahiko, and for talking about me as if I wasn't here and reading!!

Well, as for my opinion on the matter, I'd say Ringo is a strange combination of Björk, Shakira, and Joni Mitchell... 0_o

Well, Björk because they have that experimental streak, Shakira for the rocking and strange lyrics, and Joni Mitchell because they both made a stylistic shift to a more jazz influenced sound (and they're both really amazing). There's not really just one person with whom she can be compared to; she's always definitely been rock, but as for what kind of rock, I'm not quite sure.

If I may contribute to the SR/Bjork comparisons...

It was actually Bjork's music which lead my to SR/TJ in the first place. One of her very first musical endeavors was 'Gling Glo' which was released under the artist name of "Björk Guðmundsdóttir & tríó Guðmundar Ingólfssonar" in 1990

That is some (literally) crazy good jazz. When I listened to that album I thought "Man, fuck these jazz singers who want to be mellow and understated. I wanna hear a bitch wail to some funky jams" And so, you see where that lead me.

Björk Guðmundsdóttir og Tríó Guðmundar Ingólfssonar / Kata Rokkar.

Bitch wailing funky jams is a pretty good description of the music... and somehow it works. I'm pleasantly surprised. Thanks!

Lol it's must be the only one which i don't like,(with "Volta" maybe)
maybe 'cause i'm not fond of jazz

Haha I know. But it was just too outrageous to let go!! (although I didn't notice it was from 2009, I was just catching up and it looks like I missed that when it happened)
By the way, Thanks for your reply

After you spend more time here, you'll see that St. Vincent is already well-loved by several of the other members here.
