RokuroKubi pleased at least somebody
Default hello message and best live performance

Hi, I am new here,
I use to read this forum in my lunch break to know all Shiina Ringo´s news,

I am still going thought SR discography, up to now I prefer more her solo albums, but I can´t say I dislike Tokyo Jihen.

Which is my favorite live performance?...
TSUMI TO BATSU at the Otakara Show

Ringo´s dramatic performance + orchestra = Best Live Performance

I was expecting a lot more mentions of Dynamite Out here. To this day I am still floored by the band opening with "Ringo no Uta". It just blows all of the previous versions out of the water. No contest. I have a few top ones.

Ringo no Uta from Dynamite Out
C'mon Let's Go! from JCHI (even though it's not her song there's just so much energy, nice guitar solos too)
Mayonaka wa Junketsu from Electric Mole (blows the original recording away, this version made me adore the song even more than I already did, Ringo at her finest)
Kabukichou no Joou from Ringohan (I love the orchestral version of this song, it was actually the first live performance that really got me into her)
Aozora from Gekokujyo Ecstasy (awesome, I love how different this is from the original version)

"Kurumaya-san", "Toumei Ningen" (Dynamite Out), "Doppelganger" (EM), and "Meisai" (EM) all get honorable mention though.

Believe me, Dynamite Out is mentioned on this forum a lot. Electric Mole and it are pretty much agreed upon as the defining Ringo & Jihen concerts.

That live version of Aozora is probably my personal favorite, since the original is also my personal favorite.

In my opinion live songs are almost always better than recorded versions... I listen to a lot of jazz and they are mush more free to do whatever and it really shows in live performances. So I have always been told by my parents, to know an artist's strength, listen to them live. I really really love ringo no uta on the single, but I love the live versions of it so much more! All the versions of it, that I heard... there might be ones I haven't heard... I think with a band like tokyo jihen, most live version will be superior to recorded version, IMO.

MINATOMACHI JUSANBACHI IS FUCKING GENIUS.
I listen to it when I clean, when I'm doing hw, when I'm playing videogames.
It's just freaking epic.

My favorite performance is still the first one I ever saw from her. She was singing Tsumi to Batsu on Music Station, and I was blown away. I had just watched a video of Utada Hikaru singing like her, and since I had no clue who she was, I decided to look her up. I clicked the first video I got, and OHMYGOD.
the big hair? wailing voice? wide, rolling eyes?
I've been hooked ever since, and it's my favorite song to this day.

this is probably my favorite performance of koko de kiss shite, there is just a real power and rawness to her voice that I think the single and most other versions of this song lacks.

dynamite out-koko de kiss shite
