What do you first go back to after a long stay away from Shiina Ringo?
For me, whenever it's been several months, I go back to the first Tokyo Jihen album. Then Muzai Moratorium. Only later will I start playing singles randomly, and eventually Karuki Zamen Kuri No Hana. After that it's free for all.

There's a secret Suberidai? O_O
I've never been able to take a break from Shiina Ringo... I either keep cherry picking tracks or there's one I'll really want to listen to. And often that's Suberidai... It's been like that in almost 3 years since discovering her. Maybe if I could fully stop for a while she'd blow me away all over again. I can't remember the last time I listened to an SR or TJ album all through, except MM and the second half of KZK which are somehow the easiest to take in and listen to as "nice music" even if I'm not in a Ringo mood specifically. Those arrangements are really nice. MM is my most played album as a result and I think really underrated. That version of Sid to Hakuchiimu is still growing on me, and I still need to listen to Akane at least once a week. |
