Animal Collective - Peacebone

I acquired their album months and months ago when it featured on the top of a lot of "best of 2007" lists. I hardly listened to it. It's weird. I've put a bit of work in this week to actually listen to the album. It's definitely a grower, and now I can't stop listening to it.

"Hurricane Jane" by Black Kids is SO damn catchy! And I love its blend of aspects of a variety of genres... the slightly cheesy 80s beat during the verses... the accompanying female vocals... it just works so well for some reason.

Listen to the one entitled "Hurricane Jane NEW".

Damn straight, and the Canseco remix is great too.
The album is dropping next month, and I've heard mostly every track in one way or another, it's gonna be awesome.

Edit- There are already reviews up (links on the album's wikipedia page). One 5/10 and one 8/10. I read the 5/10 and didn't agree with the person, although he seemed to think that the album lacked the edge of the debut EP, which I kinda....sorta agree with.

^ Actually, PJ Harvey has done the "non-rock" thing before with Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea back in 2000. She followed it up with Uh Huh Her, a guitar rock album. I expect the opposite of White Chalk for her next album. That's just the way she works.

CLT: Choobie's band - "I'm Not Gonna Teach your Boyfriend to Dance"

I intro'd this song yesterday as "The best British band to come out of America" =p

The song has been stuck on me all week after I remembered to d/l it.

CLT: Vampire Weekend - Oxford Comma.

The best Upper West Side-Soweto-British band to come out of America.

Their album has been stuck in my head since January. Find me a catchier collection of songs this year and I'll give you 10 imaginary British pounds.
