I haven't watched the whole thing yet but damn, those eyelashes freak me out.
Also stopping the video few times for that red panties shot. Will comment on the actual music later on. Lol |

Can't even watch it a second time round...
The sound is just too noticeably muddy. Sigh too, because I know there's some great arrangements tucked in there. That said... the hands down brilliant new arrangement of Nakata song (I'm gonna call it the "Fukushuu ver.") makes me forget the horrible original. So that's one great thing that's come out of this. All they had to do was remove all Nakata.

I was about to pass on this one, but now I'm glad I gave it a chance. From what I've seen so far (~70%), I'm quite impressed. I know I need to watch it all the way through, but right now I'm thinking this is the most enjoyable SR/TJ concert I've seen in years (maybe since Ultra C?). Does anyone agree? I've seen some positive reviews, but nothing that extreme.

Can't you use VLC's equalizer or something to tweak the sound?
Or consider yourself lucky you can see more than just the 2 clips available on youtube! |

Ringo Expo 14 wasn't AS bad as this on the mixing front, was it? Edit: Continuing to watch. I'm at Genjitsu ni Oite/Warau (and then I have to go out), and bad audio or not, it feels so good to hear it again. I think this more laid back edition is cool! And, uh, yeah...I guess I'll take this new arrangement of the Nakata song, too? I'll leave in a minute. And then she decides to perform Torikoshi Kurou, lol. Edit 2: That recent single she sings after Torikoshi Kurou. I'm not sure if IT is the mixing this time...wouldn't the band have performed it with even more 'oomph' in Ultra C? Maou? Feels like a long time since I was able to enjoy a full SR live recording like this.
I should be used to it by now but I'm still blown away by this woman's aesthetic prowess, her unmatched command of expression. This woman is impressionism embodied. We did get a rare sign that this woman is actually a mortal human (armpit sweat--bad choice of material for her top; surprising considering the attention to detail that goes into pretty much every aspect of her high profile performances). And for those dissatisfied with the sound... not sure I'm hearing the problem. Could the issue be on the end user's side? It sounds fantastic to me both with my good sennheisers and with my modest but trusty polks/onkyo stereo receiver (stereo as it should be, not a surround receiver... leave surround for the movies, music needs stereo). |

So I finally finished watching the show. I'm not going to say it's the best thing since the Jihen years (because that was Toutaikai), but it was quite enjoyable. No, Ringo's voice is only maybe 90% of what it was at its peak, but I still love it. She is an incredible performer, she puts on a hell of a show, and there's still absolutely no one I'd love more to see live. Really my biggest criticism in all of this is that I desperately want her to release an album full of new songs that she can perform - I love the standards to be sure, but I know she's got a lot more where that came from.
The sound, however, stunk on ice. Following fernan1234's comment, I futzed around with the settings on my receiver, but I just could not get it to sound right. I'm sure it was awesome for the in-person audience, but everything just sounded so flat in the recording.
