I'd be really interested in hearing Ringo revisit the songs she wrote with HS but with the music sensibility she has now. It might not be as aggressive but to hear these average songs rearranged might bring them into a better light.

Saito Neko's orchestral version of Kougousei! Hai Hai with a jazz twist! I can see it now!

I like shitty music and am proud of it! i'm a Tokyo Jihen/Shiina Ringo fan to the bitter end!
in an unrelated tale; one of my friends from middle school that i still hang with thinks SR sucks when I play her music in the car and thinks Bloc Party is the best band in the world now. Back then, I'd listen to Pavement, Weezer, Pixies, Elastica, Nirvana, Breeders, Dinosaur Jr. so he may have thought of me as his musical equal or something. when he found a Hall and Oates cd that i hid under the car seat and gave me the WTF face, there was no hiding it anymore. i enjoy crappy music. It bothers him alot, so I get twice the enjoyment. |

I got that Zecchou Shuu album and was under the impression (before reading about it) that they were non-studio recordings of songs she wrote in her youth, before Muzai Moratorium.
There is one disc labeled Hatsuiku status in there... So if I liked Zecchou Shuu, do you guys think I'll like the HS dvd itself? I'll have to give it a try I guess... I love Hai Hai. |
