Default Over/Underrated songs.

Because there's just not enough kindling for drama in the "favorite of" threads. We've all been there where we listen to an album, get to a song that is leim. SKIP. Finish enjoying listening to he album. Then you rush online to blabber about your opinion, but when you get there -- everyones gushing about one song in particular.

The one you skipped.

You re-listen, still leim. And then everyone's dismissing that one song you kinda liked! WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE??

So then, this is the thread to air your minority opinions.

Overrated: Yokushitsu/La Salle. I never disliked Yokushitsu, but I've been known to skip it cuz I liked Kyogensho->Debusy, and Yokushitsu was good, I like the trip beats and stuff, but then the chorus sorta eehh, fumbled a bit i think. I don't "raar hate it" but some people here really really love the song. Like, really. I don't understand why some people say its better than some of the songs that had PVs. And then La Salle, forget about it. Teh Disney Strings return x_X

Underrated: Kokoro. I don't understand why the jazz-pushers out there don't push this song more. (Maybe its cuz its Kyoiku-era and that was all rock crap, right guys? =Q) This song doesn't get 'hated' on, but it gets largely forgotten. I'd rather this song on the album than somethin like Gomatsuri Sawagi (which i also think is overrated.) If Adult was great jazzy music, why was the best jazzy song made to be a Kyoiku B-side?

Overrated: Gips
I never understood the fanhood around this song. I think there is no song that sounds less like SR, which would make it a ordinary pop song.
Well, I'm alone with this, but this thread is all about getting bashed^^

Underrated: Tasogare Naki
This song is so wonderful, DON'T YOU GET IT??

Overrated:
Koko De Kiss Shite It's like... mediocre Alanis Morissette. Yet its two b-sides, Memai and Remote Controller, are two of her best songs. Go figure.

Sigma It's murky and unappealing. And the song isn't really... there. Why is it so loved?

Superstar Plodding, dull, and generally unpleasant. The only flaw on Adult. Again, why is it seemingly cherished by all?

Underrated:
Every Track 1 of her solo albums. Seriously. Tadashii Machi, Kyogenshou, Shuukyou and Gamble are some of her very best songs and they are hardly ever talked about. There's a reason why they're the first tracks! They're amazing. There's such a propulsion, a kind of beautiful desperation in all of them. (In mood, I find they're quite similar, which is interesting.)

Poltergeist. Pretty much flawless songwriting, and some of her best lyrics, but it might as well be a ghost (haha) when it comes to discussion.

Over:
Shuraba - no disco, Shiina!
Honnou - I could never warm up to the way it opens, I didn't like the melody of the chorus...until I heard/saw the JCHI version, then I got it.

Under:
Odaiji ni - gorgeous
Keikoku - nice builds, nicer climaxes, super cool song
Rinne highlight - great vocal, funny
Momen no handkerchief - excellent dream pop

Yeah, Rinne Highlight!
And is Odaiji ni really underrated? I thought it would be pretty popular. That song is great!

...Ringo is black arts???? o_o;;

Hmm, I don't know how to judge which songs are overrated... But "Koko de Kiss Shite." is one of my least favorite Ringo songs, even though I think it's pretty popular. I know it's a special song to Ringo and I've tried many times to like it, but I haven't got myself to yet. >_<

Are "Kokoro" and "Gamble" underrated, though? Now that I think about it, I think a small part of why they're my favorite songs is because they're not as popular as her other ones. o_o

Yes, yes! If it were in English it could totally be an indie-pop hit like Modest Mouse or something. Most of my Shiina-disliking friends really enjoy this song.
