...I cried when watching the PV for the second time.
Maybe I'm just horribly sleep deprived. |

until the dvd comes out it is hard to say what the lyrics might be, but I don't know if they will necessarily help with the video. First watch I thought that it was more of an internal thing, with the girl in the uniform being the real girl and the girl who runs into light being her inner part. However, after reading some of the comments here and rewatching it, I think it is more a case of her continuing to run and shine and blah blah blah and the other girl just kind of being left behind.

Canto: I've been disillusioned for two years. Welcome to the club.

I don't think the two girls look alike so i think they must be friends or peers to say the least, also there's no proof to show that they enjoy each others company. I don't think the song is literally about dancing either, although it may be. Maybe dancing represents the common dream of both girls and the one the disappeared is the girl who ran towards her goal and succeeded. I know I stole some ideas from you guys but thats cuz i read your interpretations before i made my judgment.
after watching one more time the video makes me feel like life is so cruel. probably because i'd be the person who was left behind. :'( Last edited by freshevryday : 2007.11.06 at 08:38 PM. |

Me too, haha. For me, it's because I hang out too much with the seniors. Next year, I'll literally live in an island alone

Well, the song translates into "Flash Girl", and wasn't there a dance movie called flash something?? I remember vaguely, something about Jennifer Lopez making a music video where she used choreography from the movie or something like that. Not, too sure

I probably would've liked the video much more if Shiina was actually in it.

thanks for your blog post, hedofloe
I think the doppelganger idea is definitely in there, the flashing overexposures, closeups of the faces & the short shot of the film coming off the frames all seem to reference Ingmar Bergman's 'Persona' (his strangest / best film, which also deals with a character with a split identity) this is one of my favorite Jihen videos, I hope they keep working with this director. I skipped the first two Jihen PV comps but I'll probably get this one |

This is one of my favorite videos also. I like the color-scheme a lot, it goes perfectly with what is happening. I think the song seems to be very sad, and emotional, but because I think the PV conveys that so well, I'm not sure if the song really is that way, or if the pairing of it with the PV has enhanced that feeling. |
