New Game: Ringo's "rare" compositions
If Shiina Ringo composed something, and it appears on a CD of some sort but not one of her own albums, then it's "rare". Judgments are preferably passed on the CD versions, but this isn't a strict rule.
I realize that several other "rarities" are coming out within a month, that we haven't heard yet. I'm not extremely optimistic that any of those tracks will have the influence to rock-the-vote very much among what's already been listed here, so I'm not thinking it's very "premature" to start this thread. This just gives us something to fret over until the new rares come out. Here's the rules: 1.) Every track starts with 8 points. 2.) You have 1 positive point to allocate toward one track. There is no cap on how high of a score a track can achieve. 3.) You have 5 negative points to distribute among the tracks. These points must be spread out among separate tracks until there are only six tracks left. When a track has 0 points, it is eliminated from the game. 4.) You cannot take your next turn until after at least five other people have taken their turns. If you wait too long to take your next turn, you cannot make up for 'lost' turns. 5.) At least three of the target tracks (for better or for worse) in your next turn must be different than your last turn, until there are only six tracks left. 6.) When there are only six tracks remaining, you only have 3 negative points to allocate, and they must all go into the same track. Rule #5 also no longer applies. You also still have one positive point to allocate each turn. Please use bold and parenthesis to mark your pluses and minuses. I don't want to be the party pooper but half the list is b-sides, which technically speaking are on an album, WtH. Also, Ringo first hand b-sides are inevitably going to score better than tracks like Hiyori Hime and Amagasa. Don't you think this should be split into a Ringo's b-side and a Ringo Rare Tracks Game? Rare Tracks could then be defined as all commission-ringo songs, ringo-performed cover songs, and collaborations with other artists.
also, ringo composed her own bits for Amai Yamai, so it should technically be on this list (not that I think it would win or anything...) |

WtH is a compilation, not an album.
And if Hiyori-Hime and Amagasa don't belong here, then neither do any of the Tomosaka Rie tracks. I wanted to include those because at least a couple of them are good competition for the B-sides released in Shiina Ringo's own name. Plus if we had a list of only the truer rares, Hiyori-Hime and Amagasa would still get their ass kicked, and it would be too quick of a game. And believe it or not, other tracks will probably die before Hiyori-Hime does, so this will help put things into a "it's not so bad" perspective that you couldn't illustrate with a rares-only game.

I hadn't heard Ryoko Hirosue - Private before (found it on YouTube). I quite liked it actually. [Stupid n00b retro-edit to link to the correct song...]

And I have an internal struggle for my one plus point. Memai, Toki ga Bouso suru and Aisaika no Choshoku are all equally <3. |
