okay so if you click the link its all funky so I copy and pasted it and got his site and this is what he has to say.
from the start of the album he laughed, because apparently the first song sounds like Queen (oh sweet jesus). as the album progresses he was continually lost for words. apparently there is a mixture of progressive rock, punk, jazz, speed, and roller coaster type stylings. whether within one song or the entire album, so the result is that you cannot predict what is coming ahead. despite this, the album isn't difficult to piece together, it feels breezy and open in a way, and as music, its fun. within the pop music scene, there is no one out there quite like Jihen, its quite alternative. this is what he thinks when he hears jihen, or ringo solo, with each release, but it seems to be more extreme and vivid with jihen. he also praises the CM and hearing ringo's work on television, blah blah blah. comparing this to the previous work, Variety, where Ringo only wrote lyrics and didn't compose any music, this album has compositions for all 4 members of the band who write and in particular many songs from Izawa, so in his opinion this might make the album a bit more avant garde (I'm guessing he is saying this because of Izawa's personal tastes in composing music). he ends the article wondering if such an album could be performed live, but says that with such a band he has no double they can and will. okay, my thoughts, overall, he doesn't do much talking about the album. he just mentions that the start made him laugh and reminded him of Queen and that the album is amazingly varied and thrilling. overall, this comparison makes me think of Variety, which felt like it had no common theme or goal, other than a whole bunch of random songs contributed from non-Ringo members. so take it as you will, but this sounds like it will be a follow up to Variety, although perhaps more of a return to form. Thank you. When I read clakaz's post, I thought 'Variety could be described that way too'
Just like to say...my luck is that whenever I've listened to something that tries to sound like Queen, it ends up falling flat on its face. I also think of that one Muse song and shudder |

your photoshopping to see Kameda wrote a song listed as Uki makes me hopeful this track listing is wrong. I'm glad Izawa is dominating over Uki but I'd like it if Ringo and Kameda had some more besides what is being listed (one oldie for Kameda and one non-single for Ringo). to be honest im surprised the guy heard the cd this early, I doubted that they were even done mastering at this point. I've known indie releases to be mastered printed and distributed inside of two weeks, but for a huge release like this I bet it takes longer. still, it seems early to have reviews or press copies. he must know someone on the inside. |

I'm a Muse fan, but I hate that song so much. In fact I hate most of the new album. Though I've kinda gone off them recently... there's only a couple of songs on each of their albums that I still like.
Edit: Oh yeah, I probably should make comment on the new album, since I don't think I've said anything this whole thread Well, I'm excited simply because it's a new TJ album. My guess is that it'll be Variety ~Vol. 2~, but who knows, maybe they'll have better direction this time around? I wonder just how embossed the first press cover will be... whether it'll just be a simple one-layer emboss, or a more detailed one of their faces and such... |
