Meh to both songs. Tengoku e Youkoso is not bad, but yeah, meh.

Blah. Dopamint! sounds like a Variety outtake and reminds me of the songs I disliked most from that, and Tengoku's nothing special (the English is annoying).

i agree
i like them both, too i don't think it's campy, it's a style... i would enjoy listening to the entire track of 天国へようこそ maybe i will find this cd at the mall close by, that'd be nice just have to wait a bit though

I think it all comes down to that statement.
Even though I enjoy most of their/her latest works, I'm conscious I do it in a different way than with her early music. I know I run the risk of being generalizing, because she has always been constantly changing as an artist (perhaps one of her main features) but, right now, I can't deny she used to be pretty much more expressive, personal, passionate or genuine. At least it's what I feel, and curiously, it matches up with the fact that all the band members assumed a compositive role. Honestly, I don't understand it at all: Tokyo Jihen wouldn't have been the same without her genious (it's obviously their essence), and they are not, actually. I mean, they are still great, but used to be unique. By the way, Tengoku e Youkoso is an interesting song for me, very atmospheric and with a great climax near the ending, but that guitar solo seems way too out of place there, in my opinion. On the other hand, Dopamint! is an amusing tune, nothing pretentious at all... anyway, I love the measure (don't know the right word in English) in the chorus. |

Eh, I'd put Kyouiku as at least equal to SG. The songs Shiina wrote for that album still have the classic Shiina feel to them even though they were never fully fleshed out by choice. Plus Electric Mole is a Tokyo Jihen phase even though it's labeled as solo Shiina.
