Adult by Tokyo Jihen Phase 1?
Just out of curiosity, is it possible that there was a second album in the works by Tokyo Jihen prior to HZM and Hirama leaving?
Following on that thread, could demos for a potential next album (perhaps with phase 1 versions of Adult songs) exist and what would they sound like? |

Well... I suppose it was in the works, with Himitsu, Superstar and Toumei Ningen all being performed at the Dynamite! tour. And I suppose they would sound how they sounded when played at Dynamite!.

It's possible. There was quite some lag between the end of the tour and there departure, then again when the new guys were hired so it's entirely possible.
If they were to keep to their word as well, phase 1's Adult woulda had other songs in place of Superstar and Toumei Ningen

Toumei Ningen would sound INFINITELY better than the crap we got on Adult, that's for sure.

On one of the interviews I read, it's said that Ukigumo and Izawa were roped into the band really really late into the production of Adult, thus their role in it were purely as musicians. They had little input to the concept of the 2nd album.
It is highly likely that the idea for album was conceived sometime during dynamite, [speculation] but Hirama and HZM thought it was going to be too boring to work on, and thus left the band.[/speculation]

wow, that's really interesting considering the breadth of talent and genre musicians like hzm and hirama have. it's not a stretch to think that they could have produced a album really similar to Adult as we hear it.
i guess it's kinda easy to fall into stereotyping hirama/hzm as the shredders and uki/izawa as delicate players. but then again, isn't the style of uki and izawa so uniquely and obviously theirs in adult that they must've been much more than a minor influence? for instance, would phase 1 have made a himitsu close to what we hear in adult, or was dynamite version himitsu their final product. |

If Phase 1 did Adult, Himitsu would have sounded different on the album than it did during Dynamite. See the early performances or Ringo no Uta and Gunjou Biyori as examples. Toumei Ningen and Superstar likely wouldn't have been on the album as Kameda said they were written specifically for the Dynamite tour and some of Hirama's solo music from Bunmei Kyoukou Gata Virus likely would have been coverted to TJ music.
The only song I'm willing to bet doesn't have a Phase 1 demo is Tegami since it's Izawa's song. Some of the other songs likely have a Phase 1 demo.

Himitsu (adult ver.) was arranged by Izawa so the Phase 1 version would probably be nothing like it. They played Himitsu during DO which is a very intense, rock-style version. I liked it more than the slinky Adult version (which has a lame PV to it as well.)
I guess it's good that Uki and Izawa's role in Adult were purely as musicians. Think about it, if they had more input, the album would have came out a lot worse.

You can't say Uki didn't at least influence Toumei Ningen at all. =p
Phase 1 Adult would have likely had the Dynamite arrangement of Himitsu and been the single, as the real studio ver likely would have if not for the j-dorama thing with Shuraba.
