What to say about the new Mars Volta? Do I like it? I don't really know. One moment its amazing, has momentum and purpose. The next its a (very fucking loud) sea of "how many sound effects can I fit in this track?". It's not like they haven't done stuff like this before, but its never, ever felt as forced as this.
I think a 6.5 out of 10 feels right for now. This obviously needs more digging into, but I'm not sure I can be bothered... this is as badly mastered as Death Magnetic :-p It doesn't help being released alongside a bunch of other, better, releases at the moment. Maybe it'll work like New Album by Boris: come back months later and find it much more enjoyable. Then again, New Album isn't an exercise in brickwalling mayhem either.

Spreading more Mishio Ogawa love here
This time, from 2009:
For those interested, this band Uzumakimazuu (?) is still going, and had a show on the 16th of March. What I wouldn't give to be able to hunt down all the uncommon Mishio Ogawa releases to add to my collection, or to just even listen to :-( EDIT: Teslaguy, cheers for pointing out HOSOME, they're fucking nuts :-)

Belle and Sebastian binge time
What is everyone's favorite Belle and Sebastian album? I'm pretty hardcore and am a big fan of Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like A Peasant. Or am I alone with Belle and Sebastian love?

We had a few fans here, but those members have long since moved on. I've never really listened to them. Just a few songs here and there from this thread. Album rec?
