...and Tokyo Jihen's five-member system is a rip-off of Final Fantasy IV.
I figured now was a good time to bring it up. |

As similar as they are, and can quite easily see how 2 people would come up with such a similar idea without having seen the other.

panties everywhere...girls, put on pants.
this is strange and unusual....like a ghost. who knows if she knows, I know I won't have a chance to ask her anytime soon. and maybe she even got permission to use the similiar theme. you never know.

I have this assumption that the alt. version of Crazy Beat and OSCA are coming from the same director. First, British bands have a tradition of putting "ethnic" elements into their work. They would be very happy to hire a Japanese director to visualize their song. (Damon Albarn's pretty much into Oriental senses at that period of time.) And, one of the dancers in Crazy Beat is an Asian, if you look more closely you'll see she looks pretty similar to one of the OSCA dancers. Thirdly, according to a report in Japanese the director of OSCA is famous for his "wizardness". So, it's more possible that the array of 4 dancers is his trade mark of making MVs than that it was his "tribute" to Crazy Beat.
PS: IMO Blur's "Think Tank" is one of the best albums recorded in these decades. I put it on the same level of KZK. (allmusic.com doesn't reckon, though) |

yeah i noticed that at least the dancer down-stage was asian, so I thought maybe it was the same director, but I haven't produced the name of Crazy Beat director.

Blur video was directed by a group of 4 artists called Shynola, although that could likely be referring to the other Crazy Beat video.

Well, I'm also in the blame the director camp. Artists are too busy to direct their own videos. (And raise a child...) So their label will make the connections, give them the treatments, and say, "pick one." I'm sure they will want to have some input, like "ooh put little wings on my back" or whatever. But what we know of Shiina Ringo & Tokyo Jihen is not a product of one person, but hundreds of people at her label.

I have a feeling that even if the band found out about this, they just don't care either way.
