Shiina awarded by Nihon Academy

映画『さくらん』、日本アカデミー賞の音楽賞優秀賞を受賞！
　椎名林檎が音楽監督を務めた映画『さくらん』が、2008年度（第31回）日本アカデミー賞音楽賞の優秀賞を授賞いたしました。たいへん栄誉なことです。
　『さくらん』で使用された曲たちは、アルバム「平成風俗」に収録されています。

The Nihon Academy has awarded Shiina because of the music she did for the film "Sakuran", the album "Heisei Fuuzoku".

I think we can call it the Japan Academy, haha (especially because the Wikipedia article calls it that, or the 'Nippon Academy'--it also has more information on the prize if anyone is curious. It's pretty much the equivalent to the American Academy Awards, and Ringo won the musical division).

isn't it just one of five nominations in the category? i think the ceremony is on Feb 15.

Yeah it's sort of a nomination.
But what is different from the Oscar is that all "nominees" are given "the award of excellence", along with a certain amount of prize. And one of them will be chosen as "the most excellent", and will be given more prize in advance.
