I went from Gibs to Poltergeist and came out just fine. In fact, I thought she was even more awesome for such a change.

That's why I thought she was so awesome too. As many know, HF was my first Ringo album but I had seen many pvs on youtube so when I heard the orchestrated versions that solidified her as a goddess.
EDIT: I was, however, disappointed at Meisai. It is my favorite song of hers, solo, and the HF version was not as exciting as the original. |

Wow, I'm out of the loop, but better late than never?
It was somewhat disappointing, but not in the way I expected. It's an okay album, but most of the B-sides should have been tracks on this CD. Ramp is perhaps the weakest starting track I've ever heard from Ringo or Jihen. I wasn't expecting orchestral Gamble, Himitsu, or Shuukyou, but I was hoping it'd at least be better than Tadashii Machi (though for its time it works well). I want to like Mirrorball. It's borderline catchy but has enough awkward parts to turn me off. How much better is the JCHI version, if at all? Kingyo no Hako wins. Supe-er... Shiseikatsu. Just kidding, I actually like it more than Superstar, though Gibusu still beats the shit out of it. So I guess it works. ...OSCA! Kronekodow. Fun, but I wonder if it would work slowed down? The small part before the ending's unsatisfying. Fukushuu is not bad, I suppose. Boutomin = fail. It would be great if that weird-ass refrain was not there, because I like that "On Broadway" ripoff part better. I came, I SSAW, I left, passing Tsukigime-hime* along the way. Sake to Geko is great once it gets up to speed, but unfortunately it takes about half the song to do so. The sad thing is that many of the previous songs make Killer Tune sound excellent in comparison, when in reality it's just great (though even that might still be because of bias against the album). Thankfully, Metro as the closing is much better than Ramp as the opening. It can be a little too simple, but whatever. *I figured out why I'm not partial to this song. It reminds me of the Teen Titans opening theme. >_<; Last edited by Positron : 2007.09.29 at 06:19 PM. Reason: second opinions on Boutomin and Fukushuu, plus asterisk |

I'm gonna go pick it up this Sunday. Or if I have time today, I'll make the walk to the nearest music store.
As for the changing styles, to be honest I didn't think too much of Adult the first time I listened through it. But after a few more times, I grew to love it. I'm sure Variety will rock my pants off too. ...screw it. I'm going out to buy it now!

I feel like the only person on earth who actually likes those two songs (boutomin and ss/aw)
it is because of the wurly I think....I love the wurly and listen to loads of tori amos, which is like every perceivable kind of piano-esque instrument you can find, and I found that this album was much more piano-centric in the sense that izawa used a lot of alternative instruments like wurlitzer and organ and such for much of the album over standard piano. Ringo hasn't done that too often. SS/AW sounds like an old Mama and Papa's song from the 70's, like it could fit right onto the oldies radio station, loooove it. Perfect fall song, makes me invision the leaves changing and falling. |
