And it was cool
I don't understand why people is so annoyed by hip hop, I don't listen much to it but sure there are great hip hop artists. Check a japanese guy named Nujabes, for example. (You can find some videos on youtube with his music). Last edited by S_p_h_y : 2007.04.19 at 09:45 AM. |

^ The Kenka Joutou metal piece was a mockery. It was so out of place and one member (guess who) didn't even play metal during the piece. It's a real shame when a band has to call in the piano player to get a hard lead tone.

He said it was inspired by hip-hop; not that it was a hip-hop album. Also, hip-hop doesn't necessarily mean bad. I don't listen to it for the most part but not all hip-hop artists are like the ones on BET.

The one thing hip-hop has going for it is good beats. A lot of the best kickin' ass/car chase/chillin' music is based around (slightly modified) hip-hop beats, despite having no actual rap in the song itself.
One of my favorite albums, by a Japanese artist named 'TUCKER', is a hip-hop influenced instrumental deal. It's got hip-hop style beats under lots of crazy improvisation on organs and synths that this guy modifies himself. Very cool stuff, and you can clearly hear the hip-hop influence on the album. So not all hip-hop is bad. Although, in all honesty, most rap nowadays sucks. The best hip-hop is from the 80's and early 90's (at least, I think so...I have a friend who's some kind of hip-hop aficionado, so I'm basing most of what I say on what I've heard while spending time with him).

I hate hip-hop. Whether it's "good" or "not good". Granted I don't know much about it (I stopped listening when it became really popular), but I really dislike the "attitude" of hip-hop artists; their music sounds like they're the greatest beings on earth and everyone should kneel down and kiss their toes or something. That's the impression I get from what I hear. And that impression only becomes worse when I see their music videos. One more thing, the way they dress is disgusting. In short, I hate hip-hop.
Of course, I'm an open-minded listener. So I'm ready for anyone who wants to convince me otherwise.

I'm not a big fan of hip-hop artists, persay...but I think the music itself can be good every now and then.

but no. The looping background gets on my nerves. I still can't accept it. Sorry Jer. But thanks for trying.
