Something strange on Ringo's body
I was at the front row (side) of Yohohama concert on the 14th Feb 2012. I saw something not very pleasant on her body, something looks like a surgical scar at the right side of her back, (a horizontal line from her armpit to the center of the back).
Anyone know what caused that? |

"She was born with an esophageal atresia in which the esophagus narrows as it approaches the stomach. Treatment of this involved several operations, at least one of which required her right shoulder blade to be cut open. These surgeries left her with large scars on her shoulder blades."

That doesn't look that bad at all, although I could understand why you were curious. I never saw a picture before. Kind of bad ass. I wonder if I would try to see her live again had I been in your seat, probably. I sat at the furthest seat possible about 3 years ago at Saitama Super Arena and never tried to see her again, she looked like an flea on the stage.

Following this shallow-thought-inducing-body's-peculiarities'-focused approach, I had an issue last year, which resulted in a dislocated little finger that I didn't fix. Most likely because of that, I noticed that Ringo has the same kind of aftermath, anomaly, singularity or whatever word you think best applies:
Hence the upright finger during performances, I guess. |

I've never noticed that before.
Oddly, it doesn't seem to affect her piano playing? I don't know much about piano, but I figured a dislocated finger would get in the way. |

I don't register. I quickly click/open the uploaded image before the register window pops up.
Edit: this is curious, but I did a quick research and some pianists seem to have a problem with that finger, curling or raising uncontrollably. Creepy example here. Last edited by Carlx : 2012.03.14 at 07:48 PM. |

It seems this thread has turned into "Shiina Ringo looks weird!"
So, to add: One eye seems bigger than the other @Carlx I guess you don't use the little finger for piano. I don't think you do for the guitar either. Is there any instrument where having a messed up little finger would get in the way? |
