Ringo no Uta, I never see anyone talking about it , but i love the song,(have the single)

Is Shuukyou really underrated. It came in 2nd in the whirlwind "Fav Shiina song" poll bracket at RJ.

Overrated:

Meisai - Good song, but many people list it as a favorite. The horrible Telecaster (thanks Uki) and the piercing violin bring this song down. The Electric Mole version is much better without the violin and the more swing feel.

Toumei Ningen (Adult Version) - More than one person likes it.

Underrated:

Byoushou Public - It's one of SR's better rock tracks, but gets no love. Of course, I can understand the horrible voice distortion putting people off, but the rest of the track is pure rock goodness.

Overrated: Kenka Jouto I never understood its appeal when it exceeded "oh, thats neat" stature. When the pv came out, some people were clamoring over it (I preferred Shuraba.) I'd rank it as a "middle of the pack" song on the album, maybe.

Underrated: Kono yo ni kagiri I'm dreadfully torn on the song. Its a catchy catchy song, maybe her catchiest. But it unfortunately got released in the HF-flurry. So I got to thinking, would it be better if it was on a "regular" album? Maybe not a single, just an album track, would it work. Would it be a nice change of pace? Or would it be outta place like we think/thought Bokoku and Toumei Ningen are. Maybe it was just doomed to an HF song. But still, its a good song.

If the only reason you don't like it is because it was released on HR, then just like it! Where and when a song is released shouldn't make you not like it if you really do.

But yeah, I've been wondering how to determine what an overrated and underrated song is. o_o Are overrated songs songs that are really popular but aren't 'good' songs? If so, then I agree with Chickshhh that it's a matter of opinion when it comes down to judging how good it is.

It's not cuz its on HF, its just sorta tainted cuz of the stage that was around it. I do like it, but "still"

And Over/underrated is mainly a communal perspective. Some song gets a lotta dap around here that you think doesn't quite deserve "all that." Overrated songs dont have to suck -- just their goodness is not in proportion to the hype it gets. (and yes, its totally subjective, doi)

Well, yeah, it kinda has to be a matter of opinion. Most of us base our decisions for under/overrated songs on how much we hear other members of the forum talking about them. I don't think any of us have charts depicting both how many people like each of Shiina Ringo's songs and how good each song is. :p
