PJ Harvey will always be amazing just because she's always an emotional wreck. It's what makes her sound.

AHHHH I'm so happy I stumbled across this thread. This year has been a very good one. I'm probably repeating some of what others have typed, but I'm just entirely too lazy to sift through four pages. (My personal favorite of 2007 only happens to be alphabetically situated at the top of the list.)
1. Amy Winehouse / Back to Black 2. Arcade Fire / Neon Bible 3. Bonnie Pink / Thinking Out Loud 4. Feist / The Reminder 5. Foo Fighters / Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace 6. The Hives / The Black and White Album 7. Jay-Z / American Gangster 8. Jill Scott / Collaborations 9. Jill Scott / The Real Thing: Words & Sounds Vol. 3 10. Kanye West / Graduation 11. Kate Nash / Made of Bricks 12. The Killers / Sawdust 13. Love Psychedelico / Golden Grapefruit 14. M.I.A. / Kala 15. Mika Nakashima / Yes 16. Miranda Lambert / Crazy Ex-Girlfriend 17. Namie Amuro / Play 18. Norah Jones / Not Too Late 19. Paul McCartney / Memory Almost Full 20. Radiohead / In Rainbows 21. Rihanna / Good Girl Gone Bad 22. Rilo Kiley / Under the Blacklight 23. Various Artists / Juno Official Soundtrack I know I was only asked for one, but...Hell, what's 22 more? |

I'm adding Blackfield II by Blackfield to my list of two. I didn't realize it was released in 2007.
I don't like every song on the album, but those songs I like, I like a lot. |

Rihanna is questionable, but i'm more surprised by his decision to have Winehouse and Arcade Fire at number one and two. Neon Bible just doesn't hold up in comparison to Funeral.

"Naughty, naughty Cosmo!" sounds kinkier.
I don't care what anybody says! (or types!) Jay-Z and My Favorite Fivehead put out damn good albums this year. Yeah, Neon Bible doesn't quite hold a candle to Funeral, but I honestly didn't listen to it with any expectation of it surpassing that one. Maybe I should hold myself more accountable as a fan and hope that artists evolve into something "better" with each release, but I still enjoyed listening to it and couldn't resist. Amy Winehouse deserved the top spot on my list, especially with the deluxe release of her album. HF seemed like a re-imagining of KZK x B. Ecstacy to me, so that's why I passed on it. ...no comment on Variety. |
