If Ringo ever comes to the USA, she should get Weird Al to accompany her on the accordion.
ETA: And they should collaborate on a classic Weird Al-style polka-fied medley of Ringo's early songs!

She could collaborate with Charan-po-ratan in Japan for that. The accordionist in that band, Koharu, is amazing, at least from my musically untrained perspective. I'd be down for a collab like that.

Anyway
When you hear something pretty damn amazing but noone has it/it's nowhere to dl... Goes without saying that I've ordered it. Sounds too good to skip. Best thing was that it was only 1000 yen. And I had 922 CDJapan points. So why not. (Sayuko Nano's debut mini album.) Great indie acts coming out of the woodwork right now!

Charan Po Rantan classify themselves as "balkan circus klezmer polka"
So it IS polka, according to them :-p

I was thinking of the Maron Hamada video you posted...I'll have to check out some of Charan Po Rantan's other stuff.
Still, just imagine it...Kabukichou no Joou...Honnou...hell, even throw in a polka cover of UFO...

This might be a little more polka-y I hadn't seen that Maron Hamada video, but it's great! At first I was thinking the song could use a little more accordion in it, but then there was that great accordion solo, and then I was fully satisfied. And if anyone is in NY, apparently Charan po Rantan are performing a concert there in October. |

Urbangarde surely have to be in the running for 'best album cover of 2015' with this beauty!
