I knew it was going to be a shitty song, I mean it's a soccer anthem. did you really except her to bring the next Souretsu for this?

compared to other soccer anthems, like Shakira's Waka Waka for example, it's good I guess

I don't think ANYONE expected it to be great.

But to be as bland as it turned out is quite the shock.

Hey, not every sports theme song can be as good as John Tesh's NBA on NBC theme from the 90's.

^ I am really struggling to identify what some people are calling 'generic' here. Cos I feel like the hooks are quite unmistakably in Ringo's style.

A few links to videos/clips for reference would help? Perhaps I am just musically uneducated.

To my own musical tastes, stuff like this is the vanilla ice cream flavor of rock music:

In a way, NIPPON does exactly what it was intended to do. Something easily digestible and non-challenging to listen to for the general public. Its not bad if you like it. It makes me want to press the fast-forward button though.

Apart from the part that they all have drums and guitars the songwriting is so radically different!

But that apart - thanks for that One OK Rock link; my friend has been trying to get me to listen to them for ages and that song wasn't half bad.

(any comparison to Tommy can only be a positive to me; I will ignore the other 2 songs there...)

Something wicked this way comes...

Knowing the horror that is NIPPON, it still looks pretty and desirable :-p

And the Bside does sound good (albeit brickwalled to absolute fuckery- if you think Reimportation is brickwalled, then you ain't heard nothing- if Reimporation made your ears bleed, then this will make your nose bleed :-p) if the iTunes preview is to go by. The arrangement isn't much different to what it sounded like on the WOWOW special, I wonder if it's the same players on the track.

The name iTunes are going with on the bside is Cuenta Atras (Countdown)- more Spanish too, interesting. Maybe she's over French (or she's secretly rooting for Spain in the World Cup):-p.
