Its on JPS right now as a HDTV rip/there's a shorter preview version of it on their EMI site with some other TV spots advertising the upcoming releases.

EDIT: as far as the covers go, the anime thing does fit in with the TV theme that TJ have had since they started- Shinya Waku meaning Late-Night Spot or whatever, which is often anime in Japan. Plus you know, as I pointed out before, it has the crane on the anime one and the peacock on the Sports one. Just sayin' it's really not that surprising or unrelated.

Good point. I didn't even think to connect it with the TV theme or notice the crane, was too quick to jump to the "booo anime album art~!" mindset. I do wish they'd drawn the band in anime style or something instead though. Oh welllll.

Well, "And The Beat Goes On" can be taken several different ways. Could be "Our music goes on even though we broke up", "the beat of music goes on and it's passed us by", "the beat of music goes on and we'll keep doing stuff", or "haha we fooled you and we're still secretly together as a band".

Looking at context, it's probably from either the Sonny and Cher song or The Whispers song

It does feel a little strange that they filmed the PV after "Bon Voyage", so that this was actually the last song they "played" together (even if it was to playback for the video).

Cute PV! Still, it made me a little more sad than before.
Anyone knows whats up with the old man at the end?

I believe ’the beat goes on’ is along the same lines as ’raise the dead on your turntable.’ The TJ and their music lives on as long as they’re in your music collection. BB Queen is Eternal.

EDIT: Okay saw the vid. Wasn't there a time when they made PVs only for songs that might inspire people to buy the CD? At least with Jihen they seem to make a video for whatever song they feel like. The chorus certainly smacks of the Variety era, but it definitely sounds more polished than the rest of the songs from that time. So this was probably recorded with Dai-hakken. Unless someone can correct me, the band shied away from having extra instrumentation in their songs until Sports-Dai-hakken. I realize that the brass could have been added long after the song was recorded, but if this was actually recorded from the Variety sessions, every instrument would have been so aggressive and in your face. Whereas here they're all very mellow, played lightly and quite effectively (especially Izawa, who I may have been looking out for because deadgrandma pointed him out to me specifically, but I thought his piece in the song was quite good.) From an anthropological stand-point, definitely more polished than a Variety-era song. From a musical stand point, this band has put out some real flubs, so I always feel inclined to say "It could have been worse." I think the song could have been a really nice album track on the back third of a record, maybe a song or two separated from a really massive song. But as a more-or-less stand-alone track that gets it's own PV, it's a little too unremarkable. Especially as this supposedly big farewell swan song to the band as the video frames. Whatever.

or maybe "EMI keeps milking us to death, Help!". I don't want to know what would happen if they were signed to AVEX.

EDIT: sadistic gossip blog posted the full content of the Chin Play DVD, apparently it also includes performances from various festivals and not just those from official DVDs + Domestic Virgin: http://sadisticgossip.blogspot.co.il...-releases.html

I think they're just clearing the deck of TJ stuff before Ringo makes her glorious return.

Still, we've had the PV DVD, Carnation Single, Discovery DVD, the "best of live" CD, Color Bars, Bon Voyage DVD, Shiina's single for the TV show, and now the B-Sides CD/Live compilation Blu-Ray in the last year. So they've kept a steady stream of product.

That's pretty cool. Shame there's no "new" phase 1 stuff. (I believe we've seen that Sounan along with La Salle de Bain)
