Jazztronik!
This is pretty eye-roll worthy. But since they're now a related artist I thought I'd take the opportunity to see what they're all about. I just checked out this. Sounds cool:

I tried out Samurai (the whole album) before Adult came out. I wasn't particularly moved by more than two or three of the tracks. I've also got a PE'Z remix album where one of the tracks was remade by a member of Jazztronik, and I don't consider that track to be among the highlights of the album.
If trip-hop and jazz could ever be mixed admirably, I don't think Jazztronik has quite found the formula (they just have good or bad accidents - Muddy Muddy being one of the good accidents). I'd rather listen to those genres separately. I wouldn't mind hearing Shiina Ringo doing something like Colour Of Days though.

I acquired a soft spot for "Beauty-Flow" a few years back...
The fact that Shiina hunted him out kind of surprises me, though. In a sense, it's a fitting mix in terms of genre I suppose, but they're 180 to each other in dynamics... style... everything... If nothing else, the thought is intriguing. |

Actually, when I think Jazztronik this type of sound comes to mind...
I like it. Never realised they had more edgy stuff like Samurai. Time to use a website with sophisticated search functions to get some music...

I like that song JR =)
Really don't know how Ringo vocals would help/fit that kind of song, tho. The video is pretty cool as well. |

I have a hard time imagining Ringo's rock vocals with Jazztronik's sound. But SR has done some electronic and lounge music before, so there's always a possibility of a successful collaboration.
I'm still going to assume it will be crap though, in case I get a pleasant surprise.

I heard Nana Iro before and I really didn't like it but after hearing Samurai I guess I could give him another try. |

he mentioned about Ringo in his web diary, for twice:
here in March 「そしてそして、椎名林檎さんの曲も現在1曲アレンジ中です!!まだまだ色々あるのですがどれもお楽しみに!!!!!」 it seems he's arranging "one of Ringo's songs". so they've got more than one collaboration. and in 4/15 「昨日は椎名林檎さんのレコーディングがあり久々に市ヶ谷の方へ行ってました。なかなか良い感じに仕上がって来ました!!かなり刺激の強い曲ですよ!!」 they went recording in 4/14, and he said the songs are quite "exciting"!!!

I'm actually quite excited about this collaboration now. If she's working with a variety of people as opposed to just Saito Neko + Jihen, then good results are BOUND to happen.

Wow, I didn't know they were going to collaborate.
I like Jazztronik, maybe not everything he has done but songs such as Set Free are just amazing. I'm looking foward to listen to this project. |
