This was already answered, but I just want to point out that it's important to consult dictionaries while translating when it comes to set phrases like this.

Altogether, bunmei-kaika is a set phrase with one meaning. "Bunmei" means civilization and "kaika" also means civilization so it would be a little strange to use the compound word for any other meaning than westernization.

I asked cause I thought it was strange that in Kronekodou the song is called "Brand New Civilization." (and when it was aired on that radio station, the radio site called "new civilization")

Maybe they use google translator?


(and taking a look at Kronekodou I saw the Jazzy Gaga album release... I wanna hear Junpei singing Gaga!)
