I like new chinese martial arts movies like Crouching tiger Hidden Dragon and the movies starring Donnie Yen.

Also V for Vendetta. Cult favorite. I listened to that movie last week. I did not say it wrongly, listened.

It's not. The One Ring is up there as one of the ultimate MacGuffins of all time. I don't have any problem with a MacGuffin being the central focus of a plot; it works all the time. But it gets pretty old when you write a seven-book series with a new number of them in each one. Tiring really. By the time I got to the last volume, I was just cocking my head going, "Really?," all the way through because it was so played-out and overused. And Deathly Hollows doesn't even have the fun school-happenings to distract you from the rehashed plot like the others do.

Don't get me wrong, I not some huge anti-Potter fanatic, and I think Rowling's writing style is charming enough. I just had some serious problems with the way the story was developed.

So anyway, Raise the Red Lantern is pretty good.

Speaking of this, the lulziest movie to listen to is Kill Bill. (I listened to part 2 specifically, but I'm sure the first one is the same.) EVERY sound is going 100 miles an hour and bumped up to eleven.

By listened do you mean you're not looking at the screen, but it's playing anyway and you're getting a gist from the sounds? I can only do that with TV.

Maybe you'd like this site:

I've watched movies without sound. I don't mean silent movies, I mean movies that have sound but I turn off the sound to watch the shots. And no I don't mean porn. My favorite experiment with this has been Blue Velvet.

Yes. That is what I meant! Although, I thought I was the only one who did it. =P Listening to V for Vendetta was an absolutely refreshing experience. I get to hear the deep feelings V had during his speech.

Wow, thanks, Nimh! I do not know where to start... Any movies you recommend that is good to listen to?

There is no Mary Poppins. feelsbadman.jpg

But there is pulp fiction!

well, all his other movies were not as weird and inaccessible as this one. This one is quite special even for him. Sometimes I thought it was on the verge of being pretentious, but when it was over it all simply worked very well together.

It was the first film he directed. All the other films he wrote were directed by either Spike Jonze or Michel Gondry. So, I think for Synecdoche, New York, he didn't have a really good, experienced director to focus the story and stop it from getting too far out there.

Just got out of a screening of Melancholia.

The first half is very slow, but the second half is extremely powerful. Not for everyone, but that ending is so breathtaking.

Recommended if you have patience/like Lars Von Trier
