I have just finished season 3 of "It's always Sunny in Philadelphia".
Pretty much didn't know anything about the show when I started to watch it. Good god, this might be the best comedy show of all times. And I'm saying that as a 30 Rock addict. This is the first show that truly knows no boundaries. As someone in the show said to the main characters: "I was just trying to push you to your limits, but apparently you have none" "You are the most horrible people alive"

I'm sold, welcome to my sig, Sunny.
Dee and Charlie just tried to get human meat from a morgage because they became cannibals.

Thanks for the recommendation, I just watched one of his programs. But the gang from Phili is still more ruthless
Also now being in season 4 I miss the McPoyles. Haven't seen them in a while.

So I watched Party Down over the week and must say that I'm more than impressed with the show. I walked into the show not knowing what it was about and had no knowledge of what it would be like - I just assumed it would be another fly-on-the-wall style sitcom a la Parks and Rec/The Office/Modern Family etc. But no, it goes above and beyond your expectations and surprised the hell out of me. t's unapologetic, it's rude and it's awesome. I love the coupling of Henry and Casey! Roman and Kyle's rivalry is hilarious and Ron trying to be as PC as possible provides the show with some of it's outrageously hilarious moments. I hate that it got cancelled cause it really was just quality. Oh well, two solid seasons as opposed to a bunch of crap right? Good thing that the second season ended in a way that gives the series as a whole a bit of closure, kinda like how Arrested Development got that sense of closure for their final episode.

The Office often springs to mind while I'm currently enrolled in a Project Management course at school. Steve Carell's character embraces Project Management mantra the same way a lot of people embrace the Bible - they focus on the bits which make them feel comfortable or secure or destined-for-victory, while disregarding how everything actually comes together.

What I've downloaded recently.
NOVA - The Fabric of the Cosmos (excellent) World's Deadliest Roads (tedious [SPOILER - nobody dies]) Hardcore Pawn (amusing) Pawn Stars (best of its genre, always fun) Community (will be missed, but not mourned) The Office (zzzzz) Parks and Recreation (sometimes surprisingly good) The Big Bang Theory (shrug) Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia (quite funny) Bored To Death (becoming less and less inspired) Fringe (high hopes for second half of season) 30 Rock (wishful thinking) American Chopper (insert clever motorcycle metaphor here about recent suckdom) American Pickers (sweet, entertaining, usually learn something too) Auction Hunters (I hate Asshole and Thug Life, but sometimes has interesting stuff) Storage Wars (best of its breed, love Barry) Moonshiners (not watched yet) CSI (still O.K.) Modern Family (never disappointing) Simpsons (still O.K.) Allen Gregory (he funnyish, gaydads annoying/boring) American Guns (meh) Sons of Guns (usually cool; amusing redneck dudes) The Art of America (excellent) Noise Squad (unwatched as of now) Work of Art - The Next Great Artist (not always awful, but requires lots of fast-forwarding) Weed Wars (don't know yet) America in Primetime (excellent) House (yep, whatever) Digging the Great Escape (cool) QI (might watch again) Vietnam in HD (in small doses) Penn and Teller Tell a Lie (quite good) Mythbusters (maybe 15 minutes of stuff actually happening, not watchable in real time) Bones (way too natal recently) NCIS (still O.K.) |
