Updated the Op with the Sony and Nintendo news.
The Live demo of Nathal and the PS3 controller were far apart in precision.

And so far I've only heard about Natal supporting the big extremities like arms and legs, but not fingers.

oh yeah lets give Samus Aran over to Team-oversexed-13-yo-Ninja. That's a GREAT idea.

They didn't really show any precision demos with Nathal. They showed a woman bouncing around with bouncing balls off blocks (and, as you'll have noticed, her entire body was mapped and accurately represented). The Avatar demonstration was a bit dodgy, but that was more prototype software than hardware. Based on previews from people that have used it, the Burnout demo using your hands is surprisingly subtle and very receptive to the slightest movement of your hands.

Natal perfectly maps the body (and everything else in the room). It has a 3D sensor inside and this is literally what it sees:

Name: pointcloud.jpg

Then with that information, Microsoft have created "state of the art" human tracking algorithms so that it can differentiate between humans, animals, the couch etc. and between your Hawaiian T-Shirt and the patterned wallpaper. The software in it's currently state tracks 46 different moving joints on the human body.

To the people "let down" by this years E3 from Nintendo, it is a MUCH better showing than last year (Wiifit and WiiMusic)

Jonny Lee's blog post about Natal (he's working on it) and this Time article.

Milo can even see bags under your eyes and say "you're looking tired today". He welcomed a Eurogamer journalist into the room by saying "I like your blue shirt" and laughed when he told him a joke.

Jonny Lee is working FOR MICROSOFT ON Natal?

Or is he just working on it independently?

Because his headtracking stuff from the Wii was the first stuff that came to my mind

Yeah he was hired by them ages ago. His headtracking is being used in Milo.

Heavy Rain developer walkthrough. I think heavy rain is a perfect example of something that could benefit a lot of Natal. Since a lot of actions are supposed to be imitated with an analogue stick, using your body should feel natural. You could still hold a 360 control to walk, but the head movement could be done with your own head.

Metroid Gaiden is the best fucking thing of the show. Did you even see the trailer? Samus wasn't over sexualized at all. Do you even realize this only Team Ninja in name? Itagaki left and he took most of the important staff with him. The only "talented" member of the team left is Hayashi, but he's a hack. This Team Ninja has yet to make a game of their own.
