The Prestige is really good, just saw it over the weekend.

The lengths those two guys go to in order to *hurt* each other...Not simply get revenge, but to make it *hurt*. The mean-ness is totally entertaining.

Not only how far they go to do it, but how they do it is really what makes it amazing.

Way too many...so hard to choose just a few, but I'll try to narrow it down to a few for each country or region.

EUROPE
Le Samourai
Life is Beautiful

KOREA
Barking Dogs Never Bite
My Sassy Girl
Memories of Murder
This Charming Girl
Sympathy for Lady Vengeance

JAPAN
Linda Linda Linda (where the avatar comes from)
Sonatine
Harakiri
Yojimbo

AMERICA
The Truman Show
The Godfather
Pulp Fiction
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

I find myself watching way more foreign films than American these days. Looking back at the list of films I've seen this year, only about 1/5 of them are American. Out of the foreign films, most of *those* are Asian...I've tried getting into European films, but so far I haven't too many that I really like, sadly.

Just watched Pan's Labyrinth yesterday. Absolutely phenomenal! Beautifully realised, and way darker than I was expecting.

Hmm, I didn't really like that movie. o_o;; But, I'm the same--I haven't had time to watch many movies lately. >_< The last movie I saw was Blades of Glory. @_@

Yeah, it was darker than I expected, too. @_@ I still can't believe that one scene with the bottle and gun, if you know what I'm talking about. o_o I actually screamed when he did it because I didn't expect them to show it. @_@;; Maybe it's because I don't really like these kinds of movies, but I don't know why it got such good reviews. Is it because of how it tied a fantasy into the real world during a war?

I thought Pan's Labyrinth was great and shoulda been nominated for best movie (not necessarily won though.) I still haven't gotten around to pondering why the girl's story parallels the war story, but I thought it was great. Awesome visual style. They coulda made the war angle more intense earlier on, I think -- course it really ramps up at the end tho, doesn't it? =) I loved it.
