I'm not really interested in that FF13 Demo, since the only thing that interests me is the combat system, and that one is different in the full game.

It's not different, it's just unfinished. It will give you a fairly good idea what the game will play like; particularly considering it looked like the demo consisted of nothing but fights on one long road (bit like the first Zanarkand section in X but longer). The graphics looked stunning though; it reminded me of Final Fantasy VII most in terms of style. He watched a new trailer of FFXIII Versus which actually looked really good too; albeit with no game play again.

There is ONE thing that will probably decide if I will buy this game or not. And that is the way the side characters are controlled in battle.
In the demo they are controlled by AI, in the full version they are handled manually. Since the demo can't show me how exactly this works, there is no point in watching the demo, since I already know the art style, don't care for the graphics, and won't see see much of the story. But, for another topic, I got Mario and Luigi - Partners in Time for th DS yesterday. Very good game so far, although I usually don't like item based combat, because I tend to use items as rarely as I can, because there "could" be something behind the next corner Thank god there are enough attacking items everywhere

If anybody does want to watch the Final Fantasy XIII footage, it was captured here. Don't forget to click to watch in high quality!
Edit: In the latest Game Informer they announced that you can plug more than one mic in for The Beatles: Rock Band to sing their classic Harmonies :O :O :O Funnily enough a guy on the Rock Band forums claimed to play a demo of the game last week at Abbey Road studios and he said they had 3 mics plugged in and a "Harmony trainer". Harmonix announced that their next RB update will allow the (wireless) Lips mics to work. This is going to be epic. Drums, bass, guitar and 3 vocalists... *melts*. Merged ----- New info from OPM regarding FFXIII and other Square-Enix projects: - All titles (not just FFXIII) are made with localization in mind now - Localization staff consulted during development - Previous FF's had a serial completion order of JP > US > EU (in that order) - Now all three versions are moving simultaneously - "We aim to release it [XIII] within six months of the Japanese version." As was confirmed by the XIII demo, the game is being released December 09 in Japan. That puts it's release in the first half of 2010 overseas. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it slips to Winter 2010 though.

All I ask of FFXIII is that there be some version containing Japanese voices with english text.
If they can do that, I'll be happy. I know SO4 certainly wasn't "made with localization in mind". |

There is zero chance of them not dubbing it. But yeah, the option for Japanese voices and english subs would be nice and not even something that would cause a lot of trouble.

I could imagine the PS3 version having 2 dubs and the XBox version just the english one.
Still they make it sound like there's something to brag about... But yeah, why would they need to be nice to the gamers as long as everyone of them still buys their games no matter what.

Not necessarily brag, just claiming that they have a better, faster localization process. Localization is usually 6-12 months anyway which includes translating every word of dialogue and recording them in multiple languages and it has been for over a decade. So the fact that they're localizing now as they're creating the game, is likely going to get the game to us much quicker. Particularly considering they now have to port the game too and it's obviously much more complex.
