Admittedly that was mainly based off the say-so of one young woman, who said her old stuff was widely loved and admired for its passion but that she changed radically after becoming a mother. Now she tries to be sexy and the music doesn't work. That last bit could just be her opinion but that's why I objected to the idea that it's only 6 people on this very forum that are disappointed.

But anyway, which is the stronger more resolved melody if you hum it, half of this or half of Poltergeist?
I will agree that Ringo is trying to be sexier, she is hitting the right spot for the current generation with the OSCA's hips swaying, short dresses/pants/shorts and knee-highed heel boots. But I think she looks absolutely stunning if she donned a full kimono. And respectable too.

Mid-age crisis of... not enough sex?

For humming, poltergeist. It is easier and more catchy. However, majority of people do not usually hum ballet music, do they?

Why wouldn't people hum ballet music? Try and get Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy out of your head now I've mentioned that to you. Muahaha. =p Plus for sexiness I prefer some of the pre-Sanmon Gossip photoshoots (or particularly the Adult era) to OSCA, she looks like Pete Burns in that.

I could have said Tomosaka Rie - Kodomo no Joukei rather than Poltergeist for something more recent but similar that sounds a bit more developed. I get the Ghibli comparison, I just feel this tune loses its way at/after she sings "yorokobi" (0:17)...

Yeah xD Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy has maximum hummablility.

Humming songs, I think, needs slow rhythm and not too many high notes. A whole serious of high notes is extremely hard to hum. My throat hurts after attempting to hum carnation.

"yorokobi" really cockblocks the whole earlier build-up. And the section after 0:33, the vibrato(Ringo's voice is too shaky) is stressed too hard. I feel it sticks out like a sore thumb in the smooth background instruments.

I might be starting to see Jihad's point of view.

Seriously, I do not hear any of this...

Either my ears are fucked or there's a bit of exaggeration going on.

As far as it being "for old people"... I'm perfectly cool with that... old people are wise. Like Yoda.

Young people listen to Ke$ha.

Also, this is my 666th post:

I disagree on the "yorokobi" section. It's a good build-up to the chorus. Totally agree on the Ghibli comparison however.

I wouldn't say it's anywhere close to Poltergeist, but the song is still definitely hummable in it's own right. My only major complaint is the lackluster arrangement with hamfisted harp slides awkwardly thrust on top. The melody I dig. The instrumentation is pretty boring.

I think we exaggerated it a little too far. We discussed how we personally felt about the song, others might need a little more to understand what we are saying.

Karatee, I see your point now. The "bi" part worked really well as a conjunction.

Who would have thought the new song would be judged by its hum-ability?

It's another way to say that we are examining the (incomplete) song syllable by syllable too.
