Default First week sales of "Killer Tune" predictions

Since the new single's release date is in just a few days, lets see who will be able to guess the first week sales of "Killer Tune". We will see the results after the end of the next week, and whoever is right will probably win bragging rights.
(aka nothing.)

For reference, here is OSCA's sales:
OSCA:
Week 1 - 36,914
Week 2 - 10,155
Week 3 - 3,796
Week 4 - 2,011
Total Sales: 55,000+

However, keep in mind, Gunjou Biyori sold 240k, but Sounan sold around 150k. Shuraba sold 110k.

Place your bets on the first week sales of Killer Tune!

My guess is that Killer Tune's first-week-sales won't be within even five thousand of OSCA. I'd like to think it'll be at least six thousand more than OSCA, just because Killer Tune (the A-Side) has been more well-received, but if sales have been going in a downward spiral with each subsequent release, not to mention, CDJapan hasn't sold out first-press for Killer Tune yet (they declared "sold out" on OSCA a week before release)...

My guess is, it'll be somewhere in the neighborhood of 25,000.

*influences the outcome by purchasing more copies*

Actually though, I own two pre-release copies, the first one of which, I purchased a month ago, and I'm just now about to receive it, like maybe around the same time Japanese people get their hands on retail copies and when it's floating around JPopSuki, but a day or two before anyone else in the western hemisphere receives their express shipment. It's about as much of a bragging right as guestimating on-target sales figures, but brews far more anxiety.

Ah, quick note regarding the last two choices:

-53,001 to 65,000.
-70,001+

The last one is supposed to be 65,001+.
I guess someone (any mod) could also add futher guesses for higher numbers, such as:
65,001 to 80,000.
80,001 to 120,000.
120,001+
...which would be appreciated if the forum allows polls to be edited after they are posted.

(although there is not really a point, in my opinion)

Is that "pre-release" copy even legit?
Why would it say Toshiba-EMI on it? As you may remember, many many months ago (has it been a year?) Toshiba got the hell out of EMI and sold all of its stock shares. As you may have known, since then all of the Tokyo Jihen webpages changed ( http://www.emimusic.jp/ ) and also if you notice on the single OSCA, it is branded as just "EMI Music Japan." EMI music is now the sole owner. Toshiba no longer has any title in the company.

I really question why Toshiba would be on the pre-release?

It's a template that simply didn't get changed because doing so has no impact with public relations.

How I'm confident it's for real:
1.) All pre-releases from Adult and onward, have looked like that.

2.) Counterfeit copies can never sound better than originals - they can only sound worse. My copies of Karisome Otome (DEATH JAZZ ver.) in the same template as that pictured copy of Killer Tune, sound better than the officially-sold 128kbps AAC file from iTunes Japan, and they were up for auction long before Heisei Fuuzoku came out.

3.) Every pre-release copy beyond Shuraba that I own (which all look very much like the pictured one), automatically eject themselves from your computer, unless you're smart enough to disable autorun.

4.) Whoever made the pre-release CDs (the ones I already own), also knew the ISRC codes of each track, before the retail product came out.

5.) If a counterfeiter wanted to generate new "pre-releases" that look just like the proven ones I already own, they'd have to buy thermal disc printers costing thousands of dollars, and never get anywhere near all that money back, if high volume sales of "pre-release" CDs would draw skepticism.

37 - 42 thousandShiina's sales figures are really depressing...but maybe the new album's sales will be the wake up call she needs to get back to her roots. And i thought kyoiku's numbers were bad...

Reality check: Out of hundreds of thousands of albums sold on Japan (both domestic and international) in 2005, Kyouiku was ranked at #33 in highest record sales.

Tokyo Jihen sells very well. There are virtually very few bands that can consistently sell like this. Sale numbers are down because CD sales in Japan in general has gone down. There are NO artists that will sell what they made 5 years ago now. Tokyo Jihen isn't the most popular artist in Japan right now, but unlike other artists, they can continue to release what they wish, and still have a very comfortable fanbase to support them; few artists have that kind of freedom. Sadly, many artists that were popular now barely scrape the 5,000 level in singles. And inversely, artists that are trying to break into the industry end up failing (Hirama Mikio's last album sold around 700 copies).

Check out the first week sales for OSCA. I think #2 is pretty respectable. Do not compare sales to what Shiina / Jihen released years ago. Those numbers are important for trending information, but they must be considered in the time they were in.

I thought it was just me. I've been feeling lukewarm towards J-music lately. Even with Brilliant Green's reunion I was feeling "meh."
