Thanks ShadyNook. I don't think it's great...and I don't think it's even worth more than a few listens.
* The 'Goodbye my sunshine, goodbye my darkest days' bit seemed like it would lead into something promising (But 'I'm more dead than alive' makes it awkward and the rest turns into a clusterfuck) * I like the way she sings 'Dead' at the end. Sounds like she did before her voice changed. *I like the overall mood/atmosphere she was going for, but I think a longer track length could have worked better *I'm curious as to what made her write those lyrics (Maybe to reflect the J-Drama) The video w/lyrics reminded me of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFjaoYZ7jlA |

I think this song sums up everything I hate about Phase 2: horrid guitar tone, cheesy/campy feeling, and boring cliched music. Yet this particular song almost worked. Ringo's voice just isn't sultry enough to pull off this kind of song.

=D I think I'm the first one who likes it!! But I think this is not full... I don't know, I heard people saying there were "Welcomee"s at the end.. THanks a lot ShadyNook!!!
edit: http://www.lastfm.com.br/music/東京事変/_/天国へようこそ last fm lists it as 4:30 long...! Last edited by Yahiko : 2010.07.22 at 11:51 AM. |

Oh, that would make sense. So the darker bit above is for the drama, and at 3:11 it gets a dopamine boost and the song becomes happier.
Ringo: "I am DEAD" * Ringo: "Huh? Where am I?" Ukizawa: "Welcome to Heaven. Welcome, welcome, welcome." |

I like it quite a lot, actually, haha! Her English sounds a little awkward, but not horrible at all. Let's wait for the whole thing, then...

the english seems to be getting worse and worse with each song, someone needs to benkyou. I like the tone of the song, nice to hear something moody and atmospheric from TJ (not a huge fan of kimaru). I think the full version of the song is probably longer than that, it cuts off so suddenly (often times chaku-uta are abbreviated as well). I guess we will know next week!

I agree.
I really don't understand the point in writing/singing in English instead of Japanese. I agree that her English is awkward and sometimes unintelligible, but it's not the key issue for me (well, understanding English lyrics is usually hard for me...): it sounds forced, unnatural and makes me feel as if she focused more on her pronunciation, taking some feeling away from her performance. Then I listen to, for example, an excellent piece of music like Kao and wonder how much better would it be if the lyrics were in Japanese. The same goes for Hirama here. Anyway, maybe this is too subjective. EDIT: I can't stop listening to the new song. Thanks for the link. Last edited by Carlx : 2010.07.24 at 03:26 PM. |

if she's practicing her english skills alot, i hope its because she's planning on crossing over to tour and conquer the english speaking part of the world like so many other jrock bands.
