I disagree whole-heartedly.

I think Shiina needs to lock herself up in a house alone with instruments and return the band to being a glorified back-up band with her calling the shots.

This is a proven winning game plan.

But see, with my plan, I get the album I want, Jihen irrevocably splits apart, and you get solo Ringo back. Win win.

What if what you get isn't what you want? Wat if one, none-Shiina member dominates the soundscape? which has been known to happen...

You didn't like UM? I know it doesnt get "raved" about, but this is a rare time when someone has actually been negative about it.

Utaite Myouri kicks major ass!!! "Chiisa na Konomi" alone wipes the floor with 'certain' full albums... FACT!
as for another KZK ? well I don't think the current or any Jihen line up could make something like that album.. and I don't want Shiina to make another KZK either!! I want her to eclipse it!!! though I don't even think she's capable of it anymore ? she no longer seems to have that 'edge' she's still cool enough but there is no sense of 'danger' from her these days! she seems a litle 'safe' now ?

They really could make a monster of an album -- something beyond even KZK, something truly new, like Music from Big Pink, or Pet Sounds, or that first David Grisman Quintet Album -- if they were deadly serious about it.
I'm hoping for this too. Instead of each band member isolating themselves inbetween tours writing material, then calling the band together for practice, they should go full-on Lennon/McCartney and actually form songs together in every aspect instead of Ringo just doing lyrics.

Have Izawa or Ukigumo or Kameda think up the melody and lyrics for the verse, then Ringo does the same for the chorus. something like that. No one person will own the song. Throw rough half-assed ideas together with someone else's idea that seems to be going nowhere.

when the beatles did that, we got Abbey Road. I want a Tokyo Jihen Abbey Road, but without the big breakup afterwards. But first give me that TJ White Album double-disc!
